Impact Wrestling is Hoping to Work With ROH & NJPW, Don Callis Lands in Position of Power
Earlier this week, it was announced that Don Callis and Scott D’Amore have been hired as Executive Vice Presidents by Impact Wrestling. Callis had been in talks with Impact for several months, and this deal was expected to be made. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Callis will be keeping his job with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but he will now be a liaison between the two companies. Impact wants to work with both ROH and New Japan as far as exchanging talent goes and working together in whatever fashion can be beneficial. At this time, there is nothing set in regards to talent trading with New Japan.
Don Callis is in a power position, and Bruce Prichard won’t be back. When he was originally removed in storyline, it was for him to return as a heel manager. Callis and D’Amore will be part of a three-man creative team with Sonjay Dutt, who remains head of talent relations and the day-to-day creative. Callis and D’Amore will also manage and execute company business. Callis is unlikely to become an on-screen character, and reportedly feels that the on-screen authority figure is played out.
