Izzi Dame Wins Women’s North American Title At NXT New Year’s Evil

Izzi Dame has captured gold after losing earlier in the night, winning the Women’s North American Title at NXT New Year’s Evil. Dame defeated Thea Hail for the title in an open challenge on Tuesday’s special episode. Hail was originally set to defend the title against Blake Monroe, but the match was called off when Monroe attacked Hail before the bout.

Monroe threw Hail into the barricade, leaving the champion injured. Ava told Monroe that she was banned from the building, but Hail wanted to defend the title and prove herself. Despite Ava’s doubts, she agreed to let Hail defend the title.

Hail came out to hold the open challenge later in the show. Dame, who lost to Tatum Paxley earlier in the night, snuck in to take the title shot. Hail tried to battle back but Dame picked up the win with a Super Dame Over.

The win marks Dame’s first title reign in NXT. Hail’s title reign comes to an end at 22 days. She defeated Monroe for the title on the December 16th episode of NXT, a win that was reportedly unplanned.
