AEW star Jack Perry reportedly suffered an injury scare during his Continental Classic bout against Kazuchika Okada on last night’s AEW Dynamite. Okada beat Perry during the live TBS broadcast.

However, it appears that Jack Perry genuinely hurt his ankle when performing a dive on Okada during the match. Bryan Alvarez had more details on the injury scare during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

Perry reportedly informed officials that he feared he had broken his ankle on the dive. Alvarez stated, “Apparently, he actually hurt his ankle on that dive, and I guess he told people that he was afraid it might be broken, but he gutted it out and apparently felt better later.”

The good news is that despite Perry fearing he may have severely injured or broken his ankle, he appears to be fine. Alvarez continued, “Now it’s looking like he’s going to be fine.”

Alvarez also noted that during the nasty spot when Okada hit a dropkick on Perry while he was on the top rope, the cameraman on the outside was supposed to catch Perry. However, the cameraman reportedly didn’t catch Perry as planned.

Jack Perry To Continue as Alternate for Darby Allin in Continental Classic Tournament

It’s ironic considering Perry was already replacing Darby Allin in the Continental Classic tournament. As previously reported, Perry replaced Darby Allin in the tournament after Allin was forced to withdraw due to injury and not cleared to compete.

Additionally, Dave Meltzer reported on Tuesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Tony Khan was waiting to announce the latest Continental Classic matchups for television as he was waiting to see who was healthy and ready to go. For now, Perry appears to be unhurt, and he will be able to continue in the tournament.

The Continental Classic tournament will continue on Saturday’s Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Collision, with Konosuke Takeshita vs. Claudio Castagnoli. The show is being held at the Utilita Arena in Cardiff, Wales. It will air on TNT and HBO Max.
