John Cena says that he’s been working on what his role will be in WWE once he’s retired, and he thinks he’s “cracked the code” on it. Cena is of course retired from the ring, having lost to Gunther in his last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. He has said that he will continue to be working with the company outside the ring.

Cena did a Q&A at MegaCon in Orlando and talked about his role going forward. He said he has an idea that would have him “a whole lot more integrated” and just needs everyone to sign off on it. He also spoke about who he would have liked to work with among non-active stars and named Andre the Giant, saying he would have liked to share a locker room with the late legend. You can see the highlights below:

On What Past Star He’d Like to Have Worked With:

“So I’ve got to think about this. I think I would like the chance to be in a locker room with Andre the Giant. For those of you not into the WWE, Andre was kind of the measuring stick for if you made it in the business or not. He had the power in his hand to throw you out of a locker room. And if you got along with Andre, it wasn’t a stamp that you would make in the business, but it was a stamp that you might have another match.

“And the stories about Andre, the amount of wine he could drink, the amount of food he could eat. He was a notorious card player, which I used to like doing, and he controlled the narrative. I just always tried to operate with great respect for my peers, and he would be a peer that I would like to see what he thought of of my work.”

On His WWE Role Going Forward:

“These panels are great, because I always give like one piece of information that the world catches and then it makes the headlines the next day. This is that moment.

“I am working diligently to try to figure out my next path as a contributing, useful member of WWE. I think I might cracked the code, and I think we have something. And if the stars align and everybody signs off, I will be a whole lot more integrated in the system. And I’m very excited about the road ahead, and I’m just crossing my fingers that it works.”
