John Cena renewed his rivalry against AJ Styles at today’s WWE Crown Jewel Perth event in Australia. It was an incredible and unique atmosphere as the two all-time greats were facing off for the last time in their careers. AJ Styles even wore some throwback gear, harkening back to his old school days in TNA Wrestling. Styles wore gear similar to his attire when he previously appeared on TNA Impact on Spike TV over 20 years ago. His ring introduction also referenced his time as the leader of the Bullet Club. The stage was set for an epic contest.

Styles and Cena put on an absolute clinic, with Cena paying homage to many of his rivals throughout his illustrious career. During the match, he hit Styles with The Miz’s Skull Crushing Finale, applied Chris Jericho’s Walls of Jericho, and he paid tribute to the late Bray Wyatt with Sister Abigail. He even took a few pages out of Randy Orton’s book, executing the hanging DDT off the ropes and an RKO. There was even a tribute to The Undertaker with a Chokeslam.

Not to be outdone, AJ Styles paid tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, hitting Cena with Sweet Chin Music. Styles and Cena truly pulled out all the stops for this matchup. Ultimately, it took Cena hitting Styles with a Tombstone Piledriver, followed by another Attitude Adjustment to secure the pinfall victory. Classy in defeat, Cena upheld the Code of Honor, shaking hands with Styles, and both men raising each other’s arms in a classy show of respect. The two Superstars and former WWE Champions also embraced, at last putting their old rivalry to bed. This also marked a historic 100th PLE/PPV victory for Cena, yet another huge milestone for his illustrious career as the WWE’s “GOAT.”

Cena now treks on with his retirement tour, as he has only four dates remaining in his WWE in-ring career, including WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, with the final match of his wrestling career taking place at Saturday Night’s Main Event. That event is scheduled for December 13 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Styles also recently announced that he intends to retire from his in-ring career later next year. Cena is one of WWE’s most iconic stars, having had legendary feuds with the likes of Batista, JBL, Kurt Angle, and more.
