John Cena Opens WrestleMania 42, Gets Emotional At Audience’s Reaction

John Cena opened up WrestleMania 42 and found himself getting emotional at the way the audience popped for him. Saturday’s night one of the PLE kicked off with Cena coming out to fulfill his hosting duties, rocking a suit instead of traditional jorts and shirt that he left behind when he retired from the ring.
Cena got a huge pop from the crowd and a “Cena!” chant, which saw him get visibly emotional. He took a moment to compose himself before saying, “Wow. Didn’t expect that, thank you so much!” He then joked in a shaky voice about being a “long-time fan, long-time performer, first time host. How’m I doing so far?”
Cena then spoke about how this year’s road to WrestleMania has been chaos, unpredictable, “very, very vocal” from both the fans and in the back. He added, “One could say it’s — Michael Cole, is it polarizing? Polarizing. Now I see why I got the hosting gig.”
Cena noted this is the moment he loves the most and fans are all there for the same reason, because they know the time to talk is up and the time to deliver is now. He said it was a great homor to say, “Welcome to WrestleMania!” before the pyro went off. You can see the clip from the segment below.
Cena was announced as the host of WrestleMania 42 late last month. This is his first full appearance for the company since he retired from the ring with a loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December.
