Josh Barnett Volunteers to Bring Order to AEW’s Chaotic Locker Room

– In a series of posts on Twitter, former UFC Heavyweight Champion, NJPW broadcaster and promoter of GCW’s Bloodsport shows, Josh Barnett, expressed that AEW needs a person of authority in their locker room to bring some order and reign in the chaos. Barnett put his name in the hat as someone who’d be willing to take that job.
Josh Barnett wrote, “Just a thought: Seems like the AEW locker room is in need of someone to establish some order and reign in the chaos. If Tony needs someone to keep discipline and sort out conflict, I’d be willing to take the job. I can promise you there won’t be random fights and anyone asking me if I’d like to, ‘Take it outside.'”
When someone else suggested to Barnett that disgruntled workers who have a disagrement backstage should settle their differences on TV under Pancrase rules, Barnett responded, “Honestly, having or letting workers shoot either in public or private in a controlled environment wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. We’re supposed to be wrestlers aren’t we?”
When another fan suggested this was a bad idea because most wrestlers are not tough guys in real life, and guys like Jushin Liger and Hiroshi Tanahashi would not have had runs in such a case, Barnett noted that both NJPW legends knew how to handle themselves in a real fight. Barnett added on Liger and Tanahashi, “Actually both Liger and Tanahashi can handle themselves. I should know since I have trained them some on shooting and they have some background already. Liger might be a brown or black belt in BJJ by now. But this is also why some of these things canbe settled in private.”
Barnett has competed in pro wrestling in NJPW, TNA, and GCW. You can view the comments that Barnett tweeted below:
