Kenny Omega is aiming to capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at the iconic Tokyo Dome next year.

As noted, the former AEW World Champion showed up at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling this past Monday and proposed a high-stakes three-way match between him, Oleg Boltin, and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji for next month’s Power Struggle event. If Omega secures the pinfall, he’ll earn a shot at Tsuji’s championship.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports recently, Kenny Omega said he intends to win the three-way at Power Struggle and capture the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 21. The marquee event will take place at the iconic Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2027. Here’s what he said:

“Japan is my second home, so I want to win the belt in front of New Japan’s fans. And that’s the biggest stage I deserve. So, of course, I’m aiming for the dome. In my time, Okada (Kazuchika) was too strong, and to win the belt, I had no choice but to become a very strong all-rounder. But the current IWGP champions have almost obvious weaknesses. Tsuji is also very strong, but he lacks experience. To me, it seems like he’s scared of failing on the world stage, so maybe that’s why he’s running away from my challenge.

“There may be many fighters who want to beat Tsuji, but when I look at Ryogoku, I feel that few truly admire or respect him. Everyone seems to be just waiting for their turn. But if I become champion, everyone will understand that winning won’t be easy, so my motivation will rise and I can practice even harder. Right now, Tsuji is just one step ahead of everyone. I want to become a champion who can’t even see my back.”

NJPW Power Struggle 2026 will take place at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Hiroshima, Japan, on November 3. You can check the match card RIGHT HERE.
