On the latest episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash talked about comments made by WWE President Nick Khan about Rey Mysterio’s time in WCW.

Khan said on Impaulsive that Mysterio was considered a “nothing” in WCW. Nash questioned the context of the statement but defended the luchador’s standing during that era, noting that WCW saw potential in him despite the controversial decision to remove his mask. You can check out some highlights below:

On Trying to Elevate Mysterio In WCW:

“I don’t know in what context Nick said that… We tried. We were tying to — They had this whole idea of doing it. Because for the first time, we weren’t the redheaded stepchild. We were the hottest thing on the channel; we’re the hottest thing on cable TV. And they wanted to create some stars. And I don’t have a f**king, I didn’t grow up watching wrestling and being — you know, I watched it when I was a kid. But then like I said, I watched basketball.

“So I didn’t know the significance of taking somebody’s mask off. I wasn’t to the point where I didn’t understand the significance of it. I just thought that there was so many people that had put their mask versus hair and s**t like that, that the guy didn’t always lose his hair. There was guys that lost their masks. And I thought Rey was really a good-looking young kid. I thought he was really athletic. I thought he was somebody that we could use as a crossover to do other things. And get some commercials and get some other things.”

On the Mask In Wrestling:

“But with a with a mask on, I think — you know, Jack Black did the whole Lucha Libre. It was kind of played out in my eyes of growing Rey’s career to a point where he was going to make some serious cash. He was going to be stuck in that first hour. So was he considered in nothing in WCW? I disagree because I mean f**k, he beat me.”

On Khan’s comments:

“So WCW went out of business in what, 2001? And it’s 2025. So what are you saying, Nick? You’ve had him for 20 f**king years. And he’s meant more than the fucking four years that he was at WCW? I sure as f**k hope so. You got a f**king $5 billion Netflix deal. You got a $1.6 billion ESPN deal. He means more now, really? There are more eyes on him now? [smirks] God, that Nick’s a f**king crafty f**king guy.”
