Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis have moved from Aussie Open now to successful singles careers, something Fletcher recently weighed in on. The two came into AEW as a tag team in May of 2023. Since then, Fletcher has gone on to great singles success, while Davis has also found his own run as a singles guy despite their both being in the Don Callis Family.

Fletcher was asked in his interview with the Battleground Podcast about how he feels when people say they “outgrew” their team and talked about how they have both grown since those days. He also said he’s excited to see what a new Aussie Open run might be one day. You can see highlights below:

On the Notion That He & Davis ‘Outgrew’ Aussie Open:

“I don’t know how to take that. I think to me it’s just –everything in life is about evolution and growth. And we’ve just grown, and we’ve changed into different people. I think if Aussie Open were to go and do like a proper tag run again at some point in the future? After all this evolution and this growth, I don’t even think that Aussie Open would be the same Aussie Open that we’ve seen in the past. I don’t think that makes sense.

“So, I agree. I think we have outgrown that version of Aussie Open. But in that same regard, it makes me excited to see what a 2026, 2027, 2028 Aussie Open full-time tag team run would look like. So, if it gets to happen at some point, I would be excited to see it.”

On Gaining Confidence During In His Character Evolution:

“Well, when I first shaved my head and I was figuring everything out, I had no confidence. It was very, very little confidence, and it was just trying out new things and just hoping it went well, and just like hoping my matches went well. And then through that process, I found myself and I found who I am in the ring. I found out who I am outside of the ring. And I just — that is what gave me the confidence. Finally being able to look at myself in life, in the ring and look at myself in the mirror and go, ‘That’s one cool motherf**ker, dude. Like, that’s that guy.’

And just — you know, that’s down to me just being authentic and just doing the things that I love and wrestling the way I love. And that’s the blessing of AEW. I literally get to be myself and be the pro wrestler I want to be. Which is part of why I feel so confident in the ring now, because I’m just truly, truly myself out there and I’m having the time of my life.”
