– John Cena recreated the famous CM Punk Pipebomb promo last Friday on WWE SmackDown, cutting his own Pipebomb-style promo to close out the show. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry shared his thoughts on the segment during a recent edition of Busted Open Radio. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):

Mark Henry on how John Cena sat on the top turnbuckle during the pipebom: “He didn’t do exactly what Punk did with sitting down and crossing your legs, but I love the fact that he went up to the top of the turnbuckle, and he sat down, and the way that they shot it, they framed it so it looked like you were looking more up at him.”

On how Cena broke all the rules with his promo: “He looked right at the camera, hey I’m breaking the fourth wall. He’s doing all of the things that we are told not to do. He rebelled against the system, he rebelled against what was taught to us all these years, and I thought that it was genius.”

John Cena now goes on to defend the WWE Undisputed Championship against CM Punk this weekend at WWE Night of Champions 2025. The premium live event is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It will be broadcast live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
