Matt Hardy on Sting vs. Darby Allin for Sting’s Potential Final Matchup
– During this week’s edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy discussed the upcoming retirement of his AEW colleague, Sting, which is scheduled for AEW Revolution in March 2024, and he discussed a potential final matchup for the WWE Hall of Famer. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Matt Hardy on Sting: “I mean, he deserves it. It’s gonna be sad to see him go. He’s one of the guys I look forward to seeing every week, you know, whenever he is at television. What an amazing dude. What an amazing wrestler. What an amazing run. I can’t say enough good things about Steve Borden. Sting is just fantastic from head to toe. God bless him. He’s had this incredible run, this incredible longevity. He very much deserves to I’ll hate not seeing him around. I hope he still does come around, even just as a character, if he’s not wrestling at all.”
Hardy on Sting vs. Darby Allin as a potential last match for Sting: “That’s an interesting question. I would love to see his last match be against a top star. I would love to see it be against a Kenny Omega or MJF. Considering it’s AEW, it would not surprise me if it’s against Darby Allin. I can see him, too, being cool with that in an effort to try and leave something special for Darby when he’s getting ready to step away.”
Before his retirement, Sting will be teaming up with Darby Allin and another tag team partner later this month at AEW Full Gear. Together, they will face the team of Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 18. It will be held at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The event will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
