Michael Oku Confirms He’s Had Talks With AEW About the Future
In an interview with Stephanie Chase (via Fightful), Michael Oku confirmed that he recently had talks with Tony Khan and AEW about possibly working together in the future. Oku recently wrestled MJF at a RevPro event.
He said: “I’m trying to find the right way to answer this. I think that’s the most I can confirm, is that there’s been contact made, which obviously makes sense. I wrestled Will earlier in the year in front of Tony Khan. I got to meet Tony Khan and have a conversation with him there at the venue as it happened. This match happens with MJF, they’ve posted my promo on their channels. They’re promoting this, so there’s been contact to allow these things to happen with AEW, so there’s been contact of what we can potentially do in the future. I’ll leave it there. Wembley Stadium. In my head, I was like, it would be cool if I won this title. They have a non-title, they don’t need the title, and I wrestle someone for the title at Wembley Stadium. But I would love to have a step-up from last year. It was cool to experience being around all the boys and girls in the back, to do something, to be involved and have some kind of role in the show, but I feel like I’ve made enough of a name of myself in this country that if a big show’s happening in this country and there’s enough of a crossover with the AEW fans, at least the UK fans, that there would be some interest to see me do something, if it’s small, but a wrestling capacity, as Michael Oku, as me the wrestler on the show. So hey, there’s a Casino Gauntlet as well. There could be surprises there, and I would be very happy if my music as well plays. That’ll be very cool if my music plays at Wembley Stadium.“
