Mike Weber Comments On Lack Of STARDOM on FITE TV & Negotiations For Other Promotions
FITE TV COO Mark Weber spoke recently with POST Wrestling and responded to inquiries about the comparative lack of STARDOM programming on the platform (via Wrestling Inc). FITE is known to air certain events from STARDOM’S sister promotion NJPW, and Weber explained that most of STARDOM’s content was being kept on the New Japan platform, likely in an effort to promote their own streaming service. Weber also indicated that he’s working to establish partnerships with promotions like Dragongate and AJPW for FITE. You can read a few highlights from Weber and watch the full interview below.
On STARDOM’s choice of streaming affiliates: “We actually have aired STARDOM in the past, and it’s done well. They have a similar business model as New Japan has and TV Asahi. They really want to keep everything there. I think they’re putting it on New Japan World platform, so they do have their own platform. I disagree with that direction but that’s the direction they’re going.”
On the negotiations between FITE and other promotions: “I’m one guy doing this. So it doesn’t get done quite as quickly as I wanna do it. I would like to do more and more. It’s very important to us to have the international wrestling. Where we have progressed is in the UK, working with more and more organizations there.”
