Jimmy Havoc AEW 6-3-20

As we previously reported, AEW has released Jimmy Havoc, Bea Priestley and Sadie Gibbs. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Gibbs and Priestley were released from the company because they cannot get to the US right now for tapings. This is due to travel restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The releases were finalized on Wednesday. In addition to that, the fact that AEW has recently signed names like Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks and others contributed to the decision.

Tony Khan had noted in an interview several months ago that he didn’t want to release anyone during the pandemic, but there would come a time where they would have to make cuts if people couldn’t come in from other countries.

As for Havoc’s release, the most likely reason was because of the allegations against him that came up during the #SpeakingOut movement, which led to his suspension. Fightful adds that multiple sources confirmed that he is ‘done with the company’, but neither wrestlers nor media were given any kind of official word on his status.
