A major match has been made official for next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Tonight’s episode of Dynamite: New Year’s Smash saw a verbal confrontation between The Opps-led Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, and Swerve Strickland after MJF kicked off the show by introducing the Triple B version of the AEW World Title.
After Hangman and Swerve threatened MJF, Samoa Joe and his Opps teammates appeared on the screen and declared that he is the only person who deserves a shot at the AEW World Championship. Joe then said that HOOK and Powerhouse Hobbs will be going after Page and Strickland after they put their hands on the heel duo at Worlds End.
“Hey, up here! Boys, boys, boys! Do my ears deceive me, or do I hear two buffoons out there trying to make a case that they should be a number one contender? Well, allow me to deliver the reality that you deserve nothing. The only man that deserves to be the number-one contender is me, the rightful and wronged champion, a man who has been robbed. But I see that there are these eternal obstacles in my way every time I go on the quest for what’s rightfully mine. But fortunately, I have just the answer for those obstacles. Hangman Adam Page, you had the audacity to put your hands on Hook, the greatest second-generation wrestler in the history of this industry. I say he is to beat you down and choke you out on sight. And Swerve, congratulations, my friend, because me is back on the menu. There’s Powerhouse Hobbs is going to come hunting for you. You know what, gentlemen? I say that we do this all next week because, quite frankly, I don’t want to spend another second in this broke-a** busted cowtown.”
Revenge is on his mind and gold is the goal. @SamoaJoe is coming for the #AEW World Title and issues a clear warning to Hangman Adam Page & @swerveconfident!

Page then declared his and Swerve’s readiness to take on HOOK and Hobbs before Strickland chipped in and suggested that they should settle their differences in a No Holds Barred Lights Out match next week.
“It’s New Year, same dumba**, so give us Hobbs, and please, I swear to God, please send me HOOK,” Page said.
Swerve added:
“Since we got some dangerous men in a dangerous situation, this is what we are gonna do. No Holds Barred, no disqualification, Lights Out.”
