Kota Ibushi’s injury on AEW Collision reportedly derailed some creative plans for the company. As reported on Saturday, Ibushi was injured during his match with Josh Alexander. Ibushi fell off the top rope to the floor during the bout and broke his femur. Kenny Omega came out to assist Ibushi and it was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that there were plans that the injury changed.
Dave Meltzer noted that the intent was to build to Mark Davis and Josh Alexander vs. Omega and Ibushi. Davis came out after the match and moved to attack Ibushi, with Omega then making the save.
Ibushi has undergone surgery and at this time, there’s no word on how long he will be out of action.
