Paul Heyman is one of the most prominent manager-type characters in modern professional wrestling, and he recently discussed his approach to how he is presented. Heyman is considered to be one of the all-time great mouthpieces for wrestlers, having worked with the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and The Vision in recent years. He is currently serving as the Wise Man for he latter group as he guides Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory.
Heyman spoke with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp and was asked about how he approaches his presentation.
On His Philosophy Around His Presentation:
“It’s the same. It’s just reading the room. It’s understanding the audience. It’s knowing their expectations and their capacity to absorb the message that I’m sending out to them and never tripping over the wire of credibility in that if you over hype it, then they know that you are, by definition, going to over promise and under deliver. The whole idea is to under promise and over deliver.”
On How He Achieves That Goal:
“You just have to read the audience. What is their ability to take in the words that I am thrusting upon them? Because the last thing I want to do is have to explain it. ‘Cause as I’ve said many times, ‘Google it, bitches, I’m not here to educate you.’ So the education that I bestow upon them with the wisdom that I share, has to be in a manner that is easily accepted and not one that afterwards you have to go, ‘What did he mean? Siri, what did Mr. Heyman mean when he said this? Oh, March 13th, WWE 2K26 video game release date. Oh, that’s what he means!’ I have to do it in a manner that it’s soaks in and when I leave, you go, ‘Wow, I’m a wiser person because listened to Paul Heyman.”
