Swerve Strickland Comments on Trick Williams Appearing on WWE SmackDown

As previously reported, another notable “free agent” from NXT appeared on last night’s WWE SmackDown with former NXT Champion Trick Williams, who interrupted Sami Zayn. A major AEW star even took notice of Williams’ SmackDown appearance, with former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland writing, “#whoopthattrick,” on social media.
Of course, Strickland is referencing Trick Williams’ famous catchphrase. You can view the post he shared on his X account below. During Williams’ appearance, he revealed that SmackDown GM Nick Aldis wants him on SmackDown because the roster “needs” him and explained that he will be a world champion without needing 20 years to make it happen like Sami Zayn, who declared that he will finally become world champion this year.
Zayn praised Williams’ talent, but he also said that Williams is yet to be humbled and that he’d be happy to be the man to do it. Williams was also revealed to be a free agent.
