Taka Michinoku On How Kota Ibushi Ended Up Appearing On Just Tap Out Show

Kota Ibushi ran afoul of one of NJPW’s talent relations members when he appeared unapproved at a Just Tap Out show, and Taka Michinoku shared his perspective on the incident. Michinoku runs JTO and talked about the appearance, which took place in March of last year. Ibushi revealed in screenshots of LINE messages that Kikuchi, a member of the company’s talent relations department, threatened to end Ibushi’s contract over the appearance, and exacerbated a tense situation between the star and NJPW.

Michinoku gave his side of what happened, which Super J Cast shared a translation of online. Michinoku said that he told Ibushi that he couldn’t appear, but that Ibushi came out behind him anyway. He noted that he couldn’t expect that Ibushi would follow him out, but should have predicted that it could have happened and apo0logized for giving him that opportunity. Ibushi’s NJPW contract expired on January 31st, and he is set to face Mike Bailey at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 9 at The Collective over WrestleMania weekend.

I went back to the locker room and whispered, “Why did you come out!!?” But Ibushi said, “It’s okay! See you later!” Then he left.

In this day and age, information circulates quickly. I was contacted by concerned parties within an hour. I thought “Oh, I’m fucked.” I’m not signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling but I was in a position where I’d be screwed if I caused a problem.

I’d been brought back for the first time in two years, but I thought I was back out the door in just a few months. From that day, I was contacted by various people for a while and explained the facts.
