The Great Eight: Top 8 TNA World Tag Team Champions
Much like the TNA World Championship, the Tag Team Championships were created after TNA left the NWA. Team 3D was crowned the first champions, as they were the reigning NWA World Tag Team Champions at the time of the split.
In a very TNA move, they were awarded the titles on an episode of TNA’s online web show. That may not seem like a big deal now. But in 2007, online shows were not widely used or watched.
And much like how the Knockouts and X Division were creating alternatives to the WWE. Their tag division was doing the same. This was when the tag division in WWE had started falling apart. So, if you wanted great tag team action, TNA was your destination of choice.
Let’s take some time today and celebrate the best teams to hold the TNA World Tag Team Championships!
Fun Facts:
Since its debut in 2007, there have been 75 reigns between 74 wrestlers and 47 teams.
There have been three men to hold the championship on their own: Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, and Matt Morgan.
The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander) hold the record for longest single reign at 380 days.
The Wolves (Davey Richards & Ethan Page) and Beer Money, Inc. (Bobby Roode & James Storm) are tied for most reigns with five.
Kaz & Super Eric have the shortest reign at less than a day.
The Latin American Xchange (Ortiz & Santana) holds the record for most combined days as champions at 662 days.
Ranking Explanation:
As always, the things I look at are the length and amount of reigns, the in-ring quality, and the memorable moments.
Also, while Eddie Edwards deserves a spot on this list. I won’t be listing the Wolves because of the long history of Davey Richards being an egotistical asshat and his current domestic abuse allegations.

I don’t use social media, but you can follow me on Spotify, where you’ll find playlists covering every decade from the 1950s to the 2000s. As well as several genre-specific playlists.
Disclaimer:
This is my list; if you don’t like it or have a different list, awesome! Please share your own list and opinions in the comments section. I welcome open discourse about this wacky art we all love. It is an art form, so it is subjective; we all have our opinions on it, and all of them are valid. So, if you want to share your thoughts and opinions, don’t insult others for their opinion. There is already enough negativity in the world; let’s not add to it. And with that, on to the list!
The List
Honorable Mentions:
Team 3D, Decay, Christian’s Coalition, The Lucha Bros
8: The Good Brothers (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson
The Good Brothers get a lot of crap for their WWE runs, but I’ve always enjoyed them for what they are. And their time in TNA helped them showcase the talent that brought them so much success in Japan.
In their short two years with TNA, they managed to hold the titles three times for a combined 418 days. This puts them fourth in days spent as champions. And that also means they spent over half their time in the company as champions.
It’s a pretty impressive accomplishment. Whether you like them, hate them, or don’t care about them, The Good Brothers have proven to be a solid tag team who deserve a bit more appreciation.
7: ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey)
ABC had their runs during Impact Wrestling’s resurgence. Bey and Austin were both being touted as the future, and it’s hard to disagree. Both were young and super talented. They also oozed charisma and looked set to take on the world.
Unfortunately, Bey suffered what could be a career-ending injury, and Austin has decided to try to swim in the bigger pond of AEW. But for a couple of years, it really felt like we were watching two future TNA World Champions.
Three reigns and 334 days as champions. Putting on amazing matches with Grizzled Young Veterans, The Rascalz, The Hardys, The System, First Class, Speedball x Something, and so many more. ABC is more than deserving of their spot on this list, and I strongly recommend going back and watching their matches.
6: Bad Influence (Christopher Daniels & Kazarian)
Bad Influence was such a great team. It’s a shame they came together in one of the worst eras in TNA history. While they put on some amazing matches with just about everyone, they also were involved in the AJ Styles and Clair Lynch crap.
Christopher Daniels is one of my favorite wrestlers ever, and Kazarian is probably in the top 50 as well. Together, they helped to continue the legacy of great in-ring work that the X Division was founded on. And they were one of the few bright spots during their time in TNA.
Of course, they would leave TNA and do huge business in ROH. They eventually ended up in AEW, where Daniels is now a producer. And Kazarian has returned to TNA and is a former World Champion.
But before all that, we had the pleasure of two-time World Tag Team Champions Bad Influence. Their time was short, but they left a lasting impression on fans and deserve to be on this list.
5: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
This one stings, only because it reminds me how badly mishandled MCMG was by the WWE. They had one of the best tag teams of the century, and they chose not to showcase them in a meaningful way. Hell, put them in NXT and let them be player/coaches. But to waste them and then let them go? It makes me sad.
Anyway, before their WWE experience, the Motor City Machine Guns had two amazing runs. The first was way back at the beginning of the division, winning their first titles in 2010. It would be another decade before their second reign. But that was more due to Alex Shelley taking time off to pursue his physical therapy career.
But the time off didn’t seem to diminish his skills, as both he and Sabin continued to put on clinics, and both are now TNA Triple-Crown Champions. It is hard to get a bad match when you are in there with MCMG. Their talent and consistency have led them to three reigns over 357 days and the fifth spot on this list.
4: The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)
Josh Alexander loves to set records for long reigns. Not only does he have the longest reign as TNA World Champion, but he is also one-half of the longest-reigning TNA World Tag Team Champions.
One reign and 380 days, that one reign puts them above both ABC and Motor City Machine Guns’ time spent as champions. Page and Alexander played off each other perfectly during their time as champions. And their eventual split and feud was great television.
Page wasn’t as refined as he is now, but you could see the future potential he had. And Alexander showed the world he was going to be a force to be reckoned with. Much like ABC, The North came along at a perfect time, growing with the company as it came back into the limelight. We knew we were witnessing the future of the company.
Of course, Page would leave before ascending to the top, as I already said, Alexander would go on to be the longest-reigning TNA World Champion.
3: The Hardys (Jeff Hardy/Brother Nero & Matt Hardy/Broken Matt)
The Hardys are tied for second for most reigns. And only nine days are separating them from the top spot for most time spent as champions. Over the past 10 years, the Hardys have come and gone. But when they are in TNA, they are an ever-present threat to whoever holds the titles.
They won their first titles back in 2015, and their most recent run came just over a decade later in 2025. Between those two runs, we were introduced to Broken Matt and Brother Nero, we had a tag team invitational, and the birth of the cinematic match.
The Hardys are, without a doubt, one of the greatest teams of all time, and while they came to fame in the WWE. TNA has always seemed like a perfect fit for their brand of wackiness to really fly. Not only have they provided us with some great moments and matches, but they also lent their star power to TNA and helped to keep it in the public eye when things started falling apart.
2: Latin American Exchange (Ortiz & Santana)
The other team tied with the Hardys for the second most reigns, and the team that has spent the most time as champions. LAX, specifically the Ortiz and Santana edition, was a force in TNA’s Tag Team Division.
They were also the last TNA World Tag Team Champions before the rebrand to Global Force Wrestling, and then to Impact Wrestling. They were also the first team to win the Impact World Tag Team Champions after that rebrand.
Throughout the late 2010s, LAX carried the tag team division on their backs. Putting on bangers with The Lucha Bros, The OGz, Jody Fleisch & Jonny Storm, Ethan Page & Matt Sydal, and The North.
And while the team would leave for AEW where Ortiz and Santana would end up breaking the team up, their time in TNA solidified them as one of the top teams of the 2010s and helped to launch Ortiz as the singles star he is today.
1: Beer Money, Inc. (Bobby Roode & James Storm)
Beer! Money! The team that takes the top spot for most reigns is also my favorite team in TNA history. Beer Money, Inc. rose from the ashes of two other teams that have a deep history in TNA. Team Canada and America’s Most Wanted. When both of those teams fell apart, Bobby Roode and James Storm came together to make one of the most entertaining teams of all time.
Holding the titles for a record-setting five times, and a total of 514 days. Beer Money, Inc., entertained fans for eight years before the team finally ended for good. While their antics outside the ring would make the fans laugh, their in-ring abilities showed us all they were no jokes.
Roode and Storm gelled together perfectly. And they helped them both to hone their skills as they elevated their careers and that of those around them. Both can claim to be former TNA World Champions, though Storm probably wishes he had more time as champion.
Beer Money, Inc. deserves so much credit for carrying the tag team division during their time. They helped to create so many fun and memorable moments and gave us excellent matches. Both men had Hall of Fame careers in TNA, and their legacy can never be understated.
