The OC Pitched Match With Rock N’ Roll Express At WWE Starrcade 2017
The OC say that they pitched a match with the Rock N’ Roll Express at WWE Starrcade 2017. The two called out the team for the PPV in a moment that was promoted on WWE.com, but the match never happened. Luke Gallows explained what happened on the latest episode of Talk N’ Shop, noting that the WWE medical team didn’t think the venerable tag team could be cleared for the match.
“We know what happened,” Gallows said (per Fightful). “It’s no secret, it’s not bad on anybody, it was the fact that we pitched it. We pitched it, not hard, but we pitched it hard. Then, Ricky Morton heard about it and he was all for it. He was talking about it online and stuff.”
He continued, “I think, internally, their worry was — you have to give WWE all the credit in the world for this — the medical staff and safety of everybody, they didn’t see how they would be able to pass the medical testing to do one night with us. We thought it would be really fun. We ended up having a fun Starrcade match. We sent it to Michael (Hayes) a couple of times. We didn’t completely shut us down on it. We were like, ‘Can we do it or not?’ They were like, ‘We would love for you to do it, but….'”
The Rock N Roll Express did appear at the event but didn’t compete.
