Update on Danhausen’s WWE Brand Status

While Danhausen has been making an impact on both Raw and Smackdown finding both Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce to be game straight men for his tomfoolery, eventually he will most likely have to pick a show. Or have one picked for him. Though the barriers to being on both brands aren’t what they used to be, touring schedules are designed for brand separation most of the time between PLEs. And if you ask Booker T, AAA might be the right fit for the very nice, very evil cruiserweight.
The latest word, according to Mike Johnson’s Q&A at PWInsider, is that Danhausen is still internally listed as a free agent. That makes sense for now. As WWE writers try to figure out who to have him feud with in storylines, he can keep doing what he does best: being amusingly weird in comedic backstage segments.
Danhausen’s a lot smaller than a lot of WWE guys, so there’s some concern that he might not be a convincing opponent for all comers. There is precedent, though — longtime fans may remember a talent named the Lightning Kid, who got signed by WWE despite being under 200 pounds. As 1-2-3 Kid and X-Pac, though, he went on to become a Hall of Famer.
