Updated Word on Post-WrestleMania NXT Call-Ups

Now that we know what the WrestleMania card is, and who has metaphorically punched their ticket to the big show, the next question is who has the ticket to post-Mania shows? The Monday after usually sees some big debuts, as NXT stars ready for the main roster finally do it. So who’s in line this year?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the names most being talked about are Ethan Page, Ricky Saints, Blake Monroe, and Jacy Jayne. Page, Saints, and Monroe were all notable signings from other companies, while Jayne has been an NXT star for five years now.
Lola Vice and Tony D’Angelo’s title wins would seem to indicate they aren’t going anywhere right now. Sol Ruca is a strong possibility, given that her main roster appearances have impressed so far.
And then there’s Joe Hendry. WWE believed in him enough to have him face Randy Orton at WrestleMania. After that, he’s had run-ins with the Miz on Smackdown, which seemed like a main roster call-up…only to have him go back down to NXT and win the championship. His gimmick has arguably peaked, but one could have said the same about Danhausen, before he came to WWE and started selling merchandise like crazy. Dave Meltzer notes that Hendry is 37, and speculates, “If he’s not called up it would seem to mean they aren’t confident the act will at this point work on the big stage.”
Maybe if enough fans say his name…
