Why I Love/Hate Wrestling 12.16.07: Fantasy Booking (Vol. 3)

December 16, 2007 | Posted by Jordan Linkous

If you have or haven’t already guessed, I am going to make this a four parter, culminating with a PPV, Retribution.

There is only an hour long show this week because they are running a made for TV movie starring Helen Hunt. Looks like it is going to be a piece of crap. Well, what else is there to say? It’s time, once again, for the greatest wrestling promotion….ever!

Professional Wrestling Infinity 12.12.07

As usual JBL and Dave Prazak are your announcers. We open the show with a recap of last week. We have a cruiserweight battle royal, Steen and KOW vs. Joe and The Briscoes, as well as tons of other stuff.

Christopher Daniels vs. Big Daddy V
V rushes Daniels but Daniels ducks the clothesline and hits a back heel kick. V is reeling as Daniels leaps off of the middle rope and hits a dropkick, but V still won’t go down. Daniels rushes him but V sets him up for the Samoan Drop. Daniels fights out of it, though, and hits a reverse DDT followed by the BME for the win at 1:02.
***** (for jobber Big Daddy V)

After the match, MDogg 20 rushes the ring to get defend Ric Flair’s honor, or something. Daniels hightails it, though, and makes his way up the entrance ramp. But here comes Ric Flair with a chair and levels Daniels with it. He locks on the Figure Four Lock and says MDogg will see him at Retribution, the upcoming PPV.

Cruiserweight Battle Royal after the break.

PAC vs. El Generico vs. AJ Styles vs. Teddy Hart vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Evans
The way the match works is there is two men in the ring at all times. Once one man has been eliminated another comes in. AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio start off. Rey charges AJ and catches him with a leaping DDT. He follows with a springboard leg drop on AJ and pins but only gets two. He picks him up and goes for a dropkick at the knees, but AJ jumps and winds up stomping on Rey’s legs. AJ locks in the Muta Lock but Rey makes it to the ropes. AJ hits a hurricanrana and goes for a standing moonsault but Rey rolls out of the way. Rey hits AJ with a dropkick and is all riled up. He hits the Three Amigos. He goes for the Frog Splash but AJ gets his knees up. AJ picks him up and tries to hit the Styles Clash but Rey refuses to let his arms be hooked, so AJ hits him with a pile driver, followed by the Styles clash for the pin at 4:31.

Jack Evans is out now and hits a crossbody right when he comes in the ring. He follows with a standing 450 splash and a pin but only gets two. He goes up top for the Phoenix 630 but AJ moves. AJ picks him up and sets up for a powerbomb but Evan counters to a hurricanrana. Evans hits a shining wizard and a standing shooting star press, but doesn’t finish AJ yet. He picks him up and throws him off the ropes but AJ counters and hits the springboard DDT. He finishes Evans off with the Spiral Tap with the total match time at 8:05 now. El Generico is on his way to the ring now as Evans annihilates AJ with a chair shot. El Generico easily picks AJ off with the Turnbuckle Brainbustaaaaaahhhhhhh! for the victory at 8:21. We go off to break as PAC makes his way to the ring.

Back from break as PAC and El Generico do the standard Lucha Libre counter wrestling stuff. El Generico Irish whips Pac into the ropes but Pac counters and hits a handspring elbow. He hits the Backflip Senton for two. He goes up top for the Shooting Star Press but Generico rolls out of the way, so Pac lands on his feet. El Generico KILLS Pac with a lariat, though, and I think Pac might be dead. Nope, he kicked out at two. Generico flings Pac into the turnbuckle and goes for the Ole Kick but Pac gets out of the way and Generico is crotched. Pac hits a dropkick and knocks Generico to the floor. Pac then hits an Asai Moonsault onto Generico. Pac picks Generico up but Generico flings Pac into the ring post. Generico gets fired up and dives through the middle rope and hits a tornado DDT on Pac. He rolls him into the ring and hits a Tiger/Dragon Suplex and pins him but only gets two. He sets him up for the Brainbustaaaaaahhhhhhh but Pac elbows out and hits a Corkscrew 630 but landed awkwardly. He gets the pins, anyways, at 16:07.

Teddy Hart makes his way to the ring and Pac looks completely out of it. Hart hits a suplex and the ref checks on Pac as Hart stalls. The ref says something to Hart and Hart hits the open Hart Surgery and the pin at 16:31 (including commercial). Great match that was able to showcase all the wrestlers except Hart. Not sure if Pac was legitimately injured, but he landed hard. ***1/4

We see James Mitchell and Abyss knocking on Heyman’s door. Nobody is there, though, so they storm off.

We return from break to see Armando Alejandro Estrada with Umaga talking to Paul Heyman. There will be a Last Man Standing match at the PPV next week. Mitchell and Abyss find their way into the room but Heyman warns Mitchell that is either man lay a hand on the other, they will be fired.

The Saints(CM Punk, Ace Steele, and Colt Cabana) are in the ring. They say they talked to Heyman and they will be having an eight man hardcore tag war at Retribution. They then introduce their partner for the event, Chris Jericho. Inhumane Darkness is out on the entrance ramp and says that they have just the person in mind. Fire erupts from the turnbuckles and Kane is in the ring. He levels Jericho as Inhumane Darkness hits the ring. They brawl and the heels get the upper hand. The stand tall in the ring.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Age of the Fall up after the break.

Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) vs. Age of the Fall (Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black)

Before the match begins, Rob Van Dam comes down to cut a promo on Roderick Strong. He had respect for him, but he knew that Strong knocked him out on purpose. Rob Van Dam doesn’t get far, though, as Strong makes his way to the ring. Strong locks the Strong Hold on RVD and grabs the mic. He demands Heyman get down here right now. Heyman does and makes a number one contenders match between the two of them at the PPV. He also says that since the fans were robbed of the tag match, they will see that at the PPV as well.
N/R

Mickie James is found laid out in her locker room. Trish runs up and knows it was Kong. She says she will face Kong at Retribution.

We get a rundown of the PPV. The theme song of the PPV is Fake It by Seether.

Trish Stratus vs. Amazing Kong
Inhumane Darkness and Kane vs. The Saints and Chris Jericho in an Eight Man Hardcore Elimination War
MDogg 20 vs. Christopher Daniels
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Age of the Fall
Abyss vs. Umaga in a Last Man Standing Match
RVD vs. Roderick Strong
The Briscoes vs. Kings of Wrestling for the PWI Tag Titles
Kevin Steen vs. Samoa Joe for the PWI World Heavyweight Title

It is time for the main event!

We cut to the back to see The Briscoes and Joe walking. The heels jump them from behind and we have a backstage brawl. Claudio powerbombs Jay through the wall as Hero hits the Hero’s Welcome on Mark. The KOW drag Joe to the ring. We head off to commercial.

We come back to see the heels beating down on Joe. They have chairs now and the KOW hit a con-chair-to on Joe. The follow up with Claudio picking Joe up for a Ricola Bomb and Hero coming off the top rope to assist the powerbomb and hit a neckbreaker. Steen come to the ring with what can be assumed to be the World Heavyweight title and the Briscoe’s titles. He levels Joe and Joe is busted open. He hits the Package Piledriver on the Belt, the lays the belt on Joe and hits a Moonsault. He finishes him off with the Steenalizer and Joe is done. All three of them pose with the belts and we go off the air.

Final Thoughts
Not a whole lot of wrestling tonight but tons of storyline progression and build for the PPV. The wrestling was solid and I loved the fact that they jobbed Big Daddy V. All the PPV matches look awesome and it will be interesting to see how the matches pan out. All the matches are too close to make any prediction, but be sure to tune in for the PPV report next week!
