WWE News: Free Network Months to Continue, Viscera Lawsuit Update, More

June 4, 2015 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– WWE is planning to continue offering the first month free on the WWE Network for most months going forward. The exceptions are expected to be August, January and March or April, whichever ends up being WrestleMania each year. The free month strategy has been touted as a success for the company with a strong retention rate, similar to how Hulu and Netflix have benefitted from trial periods.

– A new filing in the lawsuit by Cassandra Frazier against WWE has revealed how much Viscera made with the company. The suit is a wrongful death suit filed by Frazier in regard to her husband’s passing, with the filing made by WWE in a request to move the suit to Connecticut. WWE lawyers noted in their response that Frazier Jr. died from a heart attack with contributing causes of morbid obesity and diabetes according to his official death certificate, and drugs and alcohol were also found in his system. They add that Cassandra contacted them at one point and said she was destitute, so they sent her a check for $10,000 as an advance on future royalties owed to her.

Viscera’s salary for the years he was employed by WWE are as follows:

1994 – $127,659.15
1995 – $100,648.78
1999 – $159,001.44
2000 – $136,951.85
2005 – $124,252,74
2006 – $152,659.55
2007 – $178,359.64
2008 – $251,223.65

– In addition to Brock Lesnar, WWE is still advertising Daniel Bryan for the house show in Tokyo on July 4th. It is possible he may do a non-wrestling segment; Hideo Itami is set for the show despite being on the shelf. Tatsumi Fujinami is also expected to attend one or both of the shows; he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame this year.
