Xavier Woods recently reflected on his 22-year journey in professional wrestling, looking back on a career that has taken him across multiple continents and major stages. In an interview with TV Insider, Woods spoke openly about the longevity of his run and the global opportunities the business has provided.
Woods noted that wrestling allowed him to perform in countries such as Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and throughout South America. He explained that those experiences likely would not have happened without the platform the industry gave him. For Woods, the appeal has always been variety. He described having the chance to test himself in different environments, in front of different audiences, and under changing creative directions.
A significant portion of that journey has unfolded in WWE, where Xavier Woods has spent more than 15 years of his career. Much of his mainstream recognition comes from his role in The New Day alongside Kofi Kingston and Big E. The group became one of WWE’s most successful and unconventional acts, combining humor, athleticism, and audience interaction in a way that stood out from traditional tag team presentations.
“I’m 22 years in wrestling, and that is shocking to me. I’ve very much enjoyed myself. I think I’ve had the chance to show what I can do in a lot of situations and with different opportunities. It has given me the chance to go and perform in places like Japan, Australia, the U.K., and South America, and other places I may have never got to have been in my life. We were able to build what we were able to build with the New Day and inspire a generation to be themselves. We have shown wrestling doesn’t have to be seen in one specific way. It can be fun at the end of the day. That’s what we are here to do at the end of the day, have a good time. It feels great.”
Over two decades, Woods has evolved from an independent circuit competitor to an established WWE Superstar. He has balanced in-ring performance with hosting, gaming content, and media appearances, expanding his reach beyond weekly television matches.
