411’s NXT Report 7.15.15

July 15, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Hello and welcome to another edition of the NXT report.

We start with a video of the Sasha/Charlotte team up last week before going to the opening video.

Chad Gable and Jason Jordan vs. Elias Sampson and Steve Cutler

Elias Sampson looks like a bigger Damien Sandow. He starts against Jordan, who looks like D-Lo Brown and Big E’s love child. Jordan does some mat work before tagging Gable after a  “we want Gable” chant. Commentary mentions that he and Jordan both have amateur backgrounds. Gable does some very impressive work on the mat. It’s really good. Cutler and Sampson get in some offense before the tag comes to Jordan. He gets in some hots and tags Gable back in. They win with a double team move where Jordan launches Cutler into Gable who catches him with a back suplex.

Winners: Chad Gable and Jason Jordan in 2:47

These two are an impressive combination. They showed some pretty good chemistry and had a fun under three minute match. *3/4

A recap is shown of the Raw debuts for Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.

Samoa Joe vs. Axel Tischer

Tischer has a pretty flabby belly. He gets in some early shots but Joe sends him back with some big shots. He gets in some signature stuff like the atomic drop/big boot/senton combination and the STJoe. A Muscle Buster, followed by the rear naked choke is all she wrote.

Winner: Samoa Joe in 3:00

Your basic squash match. It did its job and that’s about it. *

A cool vignette airs to promote Baron Corbin. They talk about his past in football, boxing and ju jitsu. He talks about how he’s the real deal while the other guys in NXT aren’t. He says that he got paychecks in the NFL that are more than the internet darlings can only dream of. Baron “Indie Killer” Corbin would be a sweet fucking gimmick.

Eva Marie comes out onto the stage and says that she’s here to watch the main event and announce that she’ll be making her in-ring debut next week.

Non-Title Match: NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy w/ Alexa Bliss vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton

Angelo Dawkins starts with a nice dropkick, but ends up in trouble. Blake and Murphy do some quick tags, but don’t do much of interest with them. Just stomps and chinlocks. They finally do something fun when Dawkins gets near the tag and Blake sneaks around the ring to pull Fulton off the apron. That leads to their running suplex/frog splash combination to win.

Winners: Blake and Murphy in 3:04

Another basic squash. This one was less entertaining than Joe’s though, which wasn’t that good in its own right. 1/2*

After the match, they continue the beatdown, with Alexa Bliss directing traffic. They end it by launching her onto Fulton with the sparkle splash.

Sami Zayn comes out to a huge pop. His arm is in a sling. He tells the fans, after a long “ole” chant, that 2014 was the best year of his career but 2015 has been the worst. He says that he probably won’t be back until 2016 most likely. He is coming back for the NXT Title and says that Kevin Owens is his motivation. He says that everything in Kevin Owens’ career has been linked to him and that will continue when he returns.

We see Finn Balor win the NXT Title on July 4th again because cutting to Comic-Con footage. William Regal announces that Kevin Owens gets his rematch on August 22nd at TakeOver: Brooklyn.

NXT Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte

They start with some lock ups, with neither girl gaining an advantage. Charlotte does a headstand stype move before taking Sasha over with a head scissors and nipping up. Charlotte does her move where she wraps her legs around Sasha’s head and flip hers over a few times. She does her dad’s corner bump but it leads to Sasha nailing her double knee strike. After a commercial, Sasha is in firm control. After a foot choke in the corner, Charlotte does the Flair flop and Sasha mocks her with a strut. They exchange some stuff with Sasha hitting a lungblower into a straight jacket submission. She moves to a submission with her legs around Charlotte’s head, but Charlotte powers up and hits a massive powerbomb. They get to their feet and trade blows in the middle of the ring. Charlotte hits a neckbreaker and spear for two. They go into a backslider struggle that Sasha wins a neckbreaker but only gets a near fall. As Sasha shouts that she’s better than Charlotte, complete with a slap, it lights a fire in Charlotte who unleashes a flurry of shots. A big boot connects and she goes for the figure four, but Sasha pulls her into a small package for two. Sasha tries her own figure four but Charlotte fights out and puts it on. She loses some hair in the process. Sasha reaches the ropes, but Charlotte doesn’t break it and keeps hold while rolling outside. The move being held while Sasha is draped over the apron looks sick. The girls exchange rollups for two before Sasha hits the Bank Statement. Charlotte does her best to fight out, but Sasha rears back and Charlotte taps.

Winner and still NXT Women’s Champion: Sasha Banks in 13:28

As usual, these two deliver. It was similar to the great matches I saw them have in Cleveland and Columbus, especially that apron figure four spot, but that’s a good thing. Sasha Banks and Charlotte are really fucking good. ****

After the match, the girls embrace.
