WWE MAIN EVENT 9.9.14

Roman Reigns will be facing Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. Also, Chris Jericho will go one on one with Randy Orton at Night of Champions.

We start the show off with Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins. Seth says welcome to where are they now staring the most powerful group in the history of the WWE, the Shield. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose, three of the most dominant superstars in the history of the WWE, and they put the entire industry on notice. Seth says let’s start with the Lunatic Fringe, Dean Amborse. He is unstable, unrelenting, and one of the most talented performers to ever step foot in this company. He made a critical error when he went head to head with Rollins.

The Rollins and Ambrose match is highlighted with the cinderblock stomp. Seth smiles big at the footage. Dean Amborse probably doesn’t know where he is at, does anyone really care? Seth says feral animals like Ambrose need to be put down. This brings him to the brawn of the Shield, the powerhouse Roman Reigns. When we were in the Shield, all I heard was Roman Reigns. He heard that Roman Reigns is the future. Seth says why we don’t understand that he created Roman Reigns. Seth is responsible for every success he ever had. Seth says Roman’s future is obsolete after targeting him. They show the beatdown from Raw last night.

Seth says that brings us to me. Seth Rollins, the architect and greatest strategist of his generation. The only man left standing from the remnants of The Shield. Seth is the future of this company. Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter interrupt.

Zeb wants the music cut. Zeb says correct him if he is wrong, he is claiming strategist of the Shield. Zeb thinks George Washington not Seth Rollins as great strategists. Zeb says he is not an architect but an opportunist and sellout. Zeb says he won’t talk about things over and over. Zeb says we’ll see how tough he is against Zack Swagger tonight, and he wants Seth to hear the sound of a Real American crashing over his head as the crowd plays along.

OFFICIAL RESULT Seth Rollins: @ 9:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: Great way to start the show. Seth and Jack did pretty good work and Seth sold the ankle great at the end. Jack was even with Seth for the most part, but did not have enough in the end.

Heath Slater asks why Titus O’Neil has big muscles. This is absurd according to Titus, because Titus shouldn’t be beat by Adam Rose. Titus says they are going wabbit hunting. Titus tells Heath to hop off. Then, Titus hits him with a clipboard saying not actually hop.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Cesaro @ 3:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: This match was a nice dominant victory for Cesaro. Cesaro’s submission was pretty awesome too; it reminded me of the Edgecator. This was a good match that progresses the Cesaro and Sheamus feud by keeping Cesaro dominant.

Cesaro is interviewed after the match. Cesaro says Renee should not doubt Zack Ryder; he is a former US Champion. She asks how Cesaro feels about the US title match. Cesaro says he is more educated, interesting, better looking, and better in this ring. Renee knows this, Sheamus knows this, and all these people know it. Cesaro says it is true. Cesaro is not just the King of Swing, but King of Wrestling and new United States Champion Cesaro.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Adam Rose @ 3:00 via pinfall
MATCH THOUGHTS: This was an inoffensive match that didn’t amount to much. It wasn’t my favorite or anything, but is always nice to see Slater and Titus in some way, so it wasn’t that bad.

Non-Title Match: Los Matardores (Diego and Fernando) vs. NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension (Connor and Viktor)

Viktor starts things off and overpowers Fernando with a wrestling slam. Fernando goes back to him and they trade go behinds. OFFICIAL RESULT: The Ascension: @ 4:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: This was a nice dominant victory for Ascension. My only problem was that it wasn’t dominant enough. Regardless, they pulled off a few good double teams and it made for an interesting extended squash.

FINAL THOUGHTS: A good edition of Main Event tonight. My only gripe is that the opening promo was far too long at about 12 minutes. The rest was pretty decent but nothing outstanding. This was a decent edition of Main Event. Thanks to any who read the recap!
