411’s WWE NXT Report 6.10.15

June 10, 2015 | Posted by Kevin Pantoja

Welcome to the weekly NXT report.

Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder vs. Mike Rollis and Elias Sampson

Ryder and Rawley are an interesting combination. Mojo actually gets “Welcome Back” chants. Mojo is in better shape than he used to be in. He does some weird dancing, including a “Hammer Time’ dance. It’s not as good as the actual MC Hammer dance. Ryder gets the tag and hits a dropkick and forearm. Broski Boot connects but he is thrown into the corner. Sampson hits a snap suplex for two on him. Ryder drives him face first into the match and tags Mojo. He comes in HYPE with a flurry of offense. A pounce like move is followed by an assisted Ruff Ryder to win.

Winner: Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder in 3:53

A fun little tag team match here. Mojo Rawley, while still annoying, wasn’t unbearable here and Zack Ryder seemed energized by being on NXT.

Mojo and Ryder leap into the crowd like they play for the Packers and celebrate with some fans in Mojo shirts.

We get a vignette for Finn Balor and how he embraces the demon. It ends with “Finn Balor Arrives” Tokyo, July 4th.

A Dana Brooke video package airs. They are parlaying the negative response to her into something good. She talked about how she was trending after her second match, but doesn’t mention that it was negative.

Emma vs. Blue Pants

A “Happy Birthday” chant breaks out for Blue Pants. She wants to dance with Emma but Emma declines and slams her to the mat. A good old fashioned hairmare connects and a dropkick gets two. Emma works a submission as the fans chant “Blue Pants Rocks” to the tune of “New Day Rocks.” I love it. Emma gets aggressive with some right hands. Blue Pants gets a few near falls with some rollups but runs into a big clothesline for two. Emma applies a chinlock and we get dueling chants. Blue Pants breaks it, hitting an elbow but Emma comes back with one of her own. Emma misses one after smack talking the fans, so Blue Pants kicks her in the head three times. She delivers some Sheamus like clubs to the chest for a really close near fall. She misses a roundhouse and gets caught in the Emmalock. She taps.

Winner: Emma in 4:37

More competitive than I thought it would be and that was for the better. I think Emma is growing into the heel role, but still hasn’t nailed it just yet. Blue Pants/Leva Bates is just an absolute joy to watch.

Enzo Amore, Big Cass and Carmella are interviewed by Devin Taylor. Taylor informs them that they will face Alexa Bliss, Blake and Murphy in a six person tag next week. Carmella handles most of the mic work here, ending with a BYE FELICIA. Enzo gets in a Fresh Prince reference, solidifying this as a good promo. Cass is more serious with his take.

Bull Dempsey vs. Tyler Breeze

For every “Bull” in Dempsey’s theme, the crowd chants “shit” right after. At least it sounds like that. He attacks quickly, overwhelming Tyler Breeze with his power. He quickly goes to a rest hold as the fans get behind Tyler. He goes up top for the headbutt, but Breeze rolls out of dodge. Bull gives chase around the ring and Bull runs out of breath, so he stops. A “cardio” chant begins, so he starts up again but dies again. Breeze makes it to him, rolls him inside and wins with the Beauty Shot.

Winner: Tyler Breeze in 2:47

Interesting for sure. I like that Tyler Breeze came off looking like a smart heel. Not really entertaining though.

We see a clip of the standing ovation that Becky Lynch got after her effort against Sasha Banks at TakeOver: Unstoppable. The crowd also sang her entrance theme shortly.

Becky Lynch vs. Jessie McKay

Jessie McKay is one of the recent signees. She gets in quick offense, but becomes overwhelmed by Becky’s quick arm drags. She comes back with a cheap shot big boot for two. The boot looked good because she has incredibly long legs. Jessie goes to work on the arm, which is wise considering the work done on it in her last match. She steals Becky’s taunt and goes back to the arm. Becky gets out and reels off some clotheslines and dropkicks. She hits an interesting suplex that targets the arm. A series of running leg drops follows for two. Becky hits an interesting slam and uses the armbar to win.

Winner: Becky Lynch in 4:14

I love Jessie McKay and Becky Lynch so I enjoyed this. The arm work from Jessie wasn’t exciting but it made sense.

William Regal brings us a special announcement. Instead, Bull Dempsey comes in eating doritos. Regal claims that he has an eating problem. He shrugs it off but Regal tells him to get his act together. It’s like a new Bastion Booger.

Jason Jordan is interviewed because his teammate Marcus Louis failed last week. Chad Gable interrupts to say that he should be his new partner. He says that when Jordan is ready, he’ll be his partner. He’s ready, willing and GABLE!

Baron Corbin vs. Angelo Dawkins

The fans are back to counting down the Corbin matches. They change their tune quickly to “Cor Bin Sucks” to the New Day Sucks chants. Dawkins tries to work the mat but Corbin is too strong. Corbin levels him in the corner and parades him around the ring. He slams him down, slides outside and punches Dawkins. Dawkins gets in some jabs that stun Corbin. His bulldog is blocked and Corbin kills him with a clothesline. End of Days hits and that’s a wrap.

Winner: Baron Corbin in 2:25

Better than the usual Corbin 20 second squashes. I said this after seeing him live in Ohio, but the guy seems much more comfortable as a heel. It’s working so far.

Samoa Joe vs. Scot Dawson

Kevin Owens is out on commentary. The crowd is hot for Samoa Joe. They jockey for position early on, with Samoa Joe obviously winning out. Joe headbutts Dawson’s hand during a wristlock. Dawson kills the crowd by actually getting in some offense. They wake up as Joe blocks a suplex and takes him out with a back elbow. Joe fires off a flurry of shots in the corner, but Owens acts like none of this impresses him. Joe hits a kick in the corner but misses a second. Dawson charges but is caught with the STJoe. Joe finishes him with the Muscle Buster.

Winner: Samoa Joe in 3:43

This was kind of a throwback to when guys would get showecased in squash matches but not end them in 30 seconds.

Kevin Owens goes to leave but Samoa Joe gets on the mic to stop him and call him to the ring. Owens gets a microphone of his own and says he won’t go in the ring because he’s a good man who doesn’t want to ruin Joe’s night. He calls Joe a rookie in NXT, saying that he can’t get a title shot after one match. Excellently delivered considering when he got his original title shot. William Regal comes out and says that Joe hasn’t earned a title shot but has earned the right to fight. Next week, Joe vs. Owens!
