Shane McMahon Says He’s Doing WrestleMania For His Sons
– Shane McMahon appeared on ESPN SportsCenter promoting WrestleMania. Some highlights are below (via PW.net:
On facing Undertaker at WrestleMania: “I’m really excited to be in there. I’m nervous to be in there. It’s a whole different atmosphere. When you’re against a guy that big… And I have so much respect for The Undertaker. He’s the measuring stick of the business. He’s carried the business on his back for quite some time. I’ve known him a very long time. But when you’re in there it’s intimidating, so you just got to let it rip and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’m kind of known for I will do anything, especially when the stakes are high, I will definitely do that just as I showed the other night, so I will give it everything I possibly have.”
On the things he’s done that stick out: “Gosh, I don’t know. I always thought I would have one match because it was never supposed to be a series of things, and then it kind of caught fire. And then everyone becomes accustomed to it and you have to start thinking about different things and then it starts to build, so I always thought I would have one match. I was like, let’s give them some cool stuff, and then that evolved and escalated and has grown into what it is today.”
On what makes him want to do this: “Good question. It’s just my drive and it’s always been in there and I’ve always wanted to do more. It’s just the competitive nature I’ve had in myself. I literally go into every single endeavor that I do physically with that mindset, I’m going to push it until I can’t push it any further.”
On working in front of his sons: “That’s my main reason. It’s extremely emotional for me. It’s not often that you get to see your dad like a real life superhero. And to perform at WrestleMania in front of 100,000 people, that experience for my sons… there’s no bigger gift that I can possibly ever give them than that experience. It should be a wonderful thing and I’m really excited about it.”
