The Independent Insight: CZW – When 2 Worlds Collide 3.11.06

This show was on the same day as ROH’s Arena Warfare show at the ECW/CZW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This has been highly ranked among the CZW fans this year as CZW’s best show this year (until Cage of Death 8 came along anyway). How can this be though without the Kings of Wrestling involved at this show at all? We shall find out.

Much like on all CZW DVDs, you get CZW Xtra which has usually 30 – 40 minutes of promos. We have one with BLKOUT, one with the Kings of Wrestling, one with Maven Bentley promoting the 6-way ladder match, one with Adam Flash, one with Zandig, one with Jr. Heavyweight Champion Derek Frazier, another one with BLKOUT(with only Kingston, Sabian, & Joker), one with Niles Young, a Messiah/Pandora confrontation, one from Iron Man Champion Kevin Steen, and another one from Kingston & Joker that you can see at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocwK5YCDhyQ which is a really great promo, and finishing up with another Hero promo. Now we get to the ring for our opener.

Eddie Kingston & Eric Gargiulo are on commentary. The ROH mat with CZW spray-painted over it from Arena Warfare is used for this show.

6-man Tag Team Match: Pandora’s Box (Adam Flash, Sonjay Dutt, and B-Boy with Pandora) vs. Messiah, Sexxxy Eddy, and “Spyder” Nate Webb
LOBO comes out after Flash and Dutt enter and says that B-Boy is Flash and Dutt’s partner. Know that B-Boy lost a loser leaves town match to Nate Webb prior to this. After B-Boy enters, Commissioner Maven Bentley comes out and apologizes for the show starting late. Messiah comes to the ring and then tells Webb and Eddy to come out. Sonjay gets on the mic and starts yelling at some of the fans while Eddy enters. Webb walks to the ring now. When Messiah, Webb, and Eddy get in the ring, Pandora’s Box beats down on all 3. B-Boy is beating down on Eddy in the ring while Sonjay goes after Webb on the outside. B-Boy whips Eddy, but Eddy ducks and hits a couple clotheslines. He whips B-Boy to the corner and clotheslines him. He goes up and hits a split-legged moonsault for a 2 count. Eddy and Webb double-team on B-Boy with elbows. Eddy has B-Boy in a wrist clutch and goes for a tag but B-Boy gets out of it and runs to the ropes to tag in Sonjay Dutt. Sonjay runs into an arm drag and a scoop slam by Eddy. Eddy goes up and hits a frog splash for a 2 count. Eddy tags in Webb and they double clothesline Sonjay. Webb takes Sonjay to the ropes, and hits the Nebraskan Tumbleweed (rolling senton) into the corner. He goes to do it in the opposite corner, but Sonjay moves. Sonjay hits a snap suplex on Webb and tags in Flash. Flash takes Webb to the ropes and hits a dropkick for a 2 count. Flash pushes Webb and Webb tags in Eddy. Armdrag by Eddy, and Eddy plays to the crowd, getting them to chant at Flash. Eddy and Flash lock up, but Flash hits a low kick then tags in B-Boy. B-Boy snapmares Eddy and kicks him hard in the back. B-Boy tags in Dutt, and Dutt scoop slams Eddy. Dutt pulls something out of KENTA’s book by leaping over the top rope, then kicking Eddy in the head. Sonjay goes for a suplex, but Eddy blocks it and hits a vertical suplex. He tags in Webb, and Adam Flash is tagged in and is met with an armdrag and an armlock, followed by an irish whip into a clothesline for a 2 count. Flash pulls Webb into the ropes into a “619-esque” position. Sonjay dropkicks into the side of Webb’s head. B-Boy hops into the ring and goes to the ropes and kicks the back of Webb’s head. Pandora then gets involved and drags Webb out, and DDTs him off the ring mat onto the pavement! Ouch. Pandora’s Box get out and pick him up and put him in the ring. B-Boy goes back in and gets a cover for 2. B-Boy hits an irish whip and B-Boy looks for a clothesline but Webb rolls through and looks for a powerbomb like position, but B-Boy flips him back over. Webb hits a sunset flip, but B-Boy gets out of that and fakes out Webb twice by looking at kicking Webb in the head causing Webb to lie down, then go for a double stomp but Webb moved and got up and was met with a STIFF enzugiri from B-Boy. That was a really nice sequence.

B-Boy snapmares him and tags in Sonjay. B-Boy and Sonjay double-team on Webb and Sonjay goes for a cover for 2. Sonjay tags in Flash after trying to stretch Webb’s mouth. Flash tags in B-Boy and Flash spits at Eddy causing him to want to get in the ring but the referee Bryce Remsburg stops him. Pandora’s Box hits an AWESOME triple team move where Flash and B-Boy grab one of Webb’s arms and go to the other side with Sonjay then hitting a Lungblower. Flash goes for a pin but Bryce was still distracted and Flash gets 2. Flash takes Webb to the corner but Webb gets out and hits an enzugiri on Flash. Sonjay runs into the ring and irish whips Webb but Webb hits a sunset flip. Sonjay rolls out and goes for a dropkick into Webb’s face but Webb blocks it, gets up and hits his own dropkick to Sonjay’s face. Both men are down. Webb tries to make it to his corner but B-Boy runs over and knocks Eddy off the apron, and drags Webb back to their corner. Pandora’s Box then proceeds with a fantastic looking triple team combo attacks that I can’t even describe for a 2 count. Sonjay takes Webb to a corner and kicks Webb. He puts Webb up top. He goes for a Frankensteiner but Webb counters out of it and Sonjay lands on his feet. Webb goes up top looking to hit a moonsault but Sonjay knocks Webb down. Webb is in the tree of woe. Sonjay goes for an “Oh Canada” type move(gimmick infringement), but Webb leans up and Spider Suplexes Sonjay and Sonjay lands DIRECTLY on his head really. Flash comes into the ring and goes for a kick to Webb’s face but Webb leans up and Flash slides crotch-first into the turnbuckle pole! Ouch again. Webb gets flash in a headlock from the tree of woe. B-Boy runs in and runs up to Webb but Webb grabs B-Boy’s hit and pushes out of the turnbuckle and hits a Stunner. Dropkick to Flash’s head. All of Pandora’s Box are down and Eddy and Pandora are having words on the outside. Webb gets the tag into Messiah. All of Pandora’s Box are up. It looks like Messiah joined the Box and turns around and says he is sorry to Webb….before mule-kicking Flash and punching at B-Boy and Dutt! Messiah hits an Unprettier on Flash. Messiah then hits the Godsmack on B-Boy. He then Exploders Dutt onto B-Boy. Messiah then hits a neckbreaker and DDT combo on Dutt and B-Boy.

Flash hits Messiah. Messiah irish whips Flash and goes to hit Flash, but Flash ducks and dives through the ropes to the outside on Eddy! Messiah then goes to the ropes to do a dive of his own, but Sonjay dropkicks Messiah’s knee. Sonjay then tope conhilos onto Eddy and Flash. Messiah goes to the top turnbuckle and flips onto all 3 of them! B-Boy is in the ring waiting for all 4 of them to get up. He goes to the ropes but Webb gets up and hits an Arcachna Kick on B-Boy! Shining Wizard by Webb on B-Boy! Flash hits a huge clothesline on Webb. Messiah hits a TKO on Flash. Sonjay hits a springboard dropkick on Messiah. Sonjay goes for a hurricanrana on Eddy but gets dropped on his stomach instead. While Eddy is getting up, he gets hit by a Shining Wizard by B-Boy! Everyone is down and all 6 of them get a standing ovation with a “CZW” chant. B-Boy is closest to his feet, followed by Webb. The two exchange punches and forearms. Webb hits a faceplant on B-Boy from a Half Nelson position for a 2 count. Webb goes up top. Flash gets to Webb and hits a superplex on Webb and rolls through and hits a powerbomb on Webb! Wow! 2 count after being broken up by Messiah and Messiah hits an implant DDT on Flash. Sonjay hits an Asai DDT on Messiah. Sonjay hits a 450 on Messiah but Eddy breaks it up. Sonjay hits an inverted atomic drop on Eddy followed by a boot to the face so now Eddy is on the ground chest up, with his feet bent backwards. Sonjay goes up top and hits a moonsault, but Eddy moves and Sonjay lands on his feet. Sonjay goes to the ropes but Eddy catches him in a Sexxxy-plex(wheelbarrow suplex). B-Boy knocks Eddy to the outside. B-Boy goes up top but Webb knocks him down into the tree of woe and hits a running forearm to the chest. He grabs a chair and puts it in front of B-Boy’s face. Webb goes for a moonsault van-terminator but misses! Webb goes up to the top turnbuckle this time instead of doing it on the ropes. He nails him this time! Webb gets a 2 count after being broken up by Flash. Messiah goes for a tombstone on Dutt but Flash gets Dutt out of it. Spinebuster by Dutt on Webb. Flash goes up top and hits The Last Call(diving legdrop) on Webb and Sonjay hits an absolutely VICIOUS MOONSAULT DOUBLESTOMP!! B-Boy grabs Webb and hits what I think is called “The West Coast Drop”(basically a modified tombstone/michinoku driver II combo) on Webb for the 3 count!

That was the best way that you can open a show. Fantastic triple-teaming by Pandora’s Box tied in with really fast-paced action. Webb took a vicious beating in this one in just about every way. Pandora’s Box pose in the ring. TNA should look at this match for how their X-Division needs to be reinvented in terms of action.

Winner: Pandora’s Box at 17:09 ***1/2

“Sweet N Sour” Larry Sweeney vs. Hallowicked vs. Andy Sumner vs. Jigsaw
The main history here is Jigsaw & Hallowicked have feuded in CHIKARA before but this is mostly just a standard 4-way. Sweeney gets in Jigsaw and Hallowicked’s faces. Sumner looks left out and poses at the 3 but Sweeney hits an eyepoke on him and throws him over the top rope. Sumner hangs on though and gets back in. He shoves Hallowicked but Hallowicked throws him to the outside while the 3 continue to exchange words. Sweeney tries to explain to Jigsaw how to chop, and Sumner comes back into the ring. Jigsaw throws Sumner out of the ring but Sumner hangs on again. Sweeney & Hallowicked criss-cross Jigsaw’s arms and Sumner goes up top. They turn around and Sumner dropkicks both Hallowicked & Sweeney, freeing Jigsaw. Sumner takes down Jigsaw, and Sumner and Jigsaw exchange leaps over each other while they run at each other. Sumner locks Jigsaw in an armbar and Sweeney locks Jigsaw’s other arm in an armbar as well. Hallowicked gets locked in one and all 4 are on the mat. Hallowicked makes it to the ropes and everyone breaks up. All 4 are up. Sweeney does the Hogan “YOU!” at Sumner and Hallowicked, Jigsaw, and Sweeney triple team on him. Jigsaw raises Hallowicked’s and Sweeney’s hands in triumph, but Sweeney leg sweeps Jigsaw while Hallowicked hits a spinning kick on him. Sweeney knocks Jigsaw out of the ring. Sweeney hits a butterfly suplex on Sumner. Hallowicked stomps on Sumner then chops him. Hallowicked rams Sumner’s s head into Sweeney’s boot. Hallowicked and Sweeney seem to be working together hear. Sweeney hits a Gutwrench suplex on Sweeney while Hallowicked keeps Jigsaw out of the ring. Sweeney hits an elbow drop on Sumner for a 2 count. Sweeney locks in a camel clutch on Sumner while Hallowicked locks Sumner in a leglock, while Jigsaw locks Hallowicked in an Abdominal Stretch. Hallowicked was almost down for a 3. Jigsaw runs to the ropes and hits a dropkick on all 3. Jigsaw chops and then irish whips Sumner to the ropes but Sumner counters and puts Jigsaw up top. Hallowicked then has Sumner in a Burning Hammer position. Jigsaw jumps up, jumps off Sumner’s chest and dropkicks Sweeney! Hallowicked then drops Sumner chest first onto Jigsaw. Hallowicked hits the Graveyard Smash(a Fisherman’s Bomb) on Jigsaw for the 3 count. There was some very good action here but was painfully short.

Winner: Hallowicked at 4:49 **1/2

Maven Bentley is now on commentary instead of Kingston.

Justice Pain with Duey Donavan vs. El Generico
No real story in this match that I know of. Generico at this point has not won a match since August of 2005. Generico is of course really popular with the fans. The two lock up and Pain hits Generico with multiple kicks then takes him down and Generico rolls over into the corner. Crowd chants something, but you can’t understand it. Got to love Philly. They lock up again. Generico catches an attempted kick from Pain, but Pain reverses hit into a jawbreaker. Pain starts going nuts on him with multiple punches then attempts to grab Generico but Generico reverses it, but Pain trips him and punches him in the head followed by a few kicks. Pain tosses him to the ropes, but Generico spins out of it and hits an arm drag followed by a pair of dropkicks. He takes Pain to the ropes and backdrops him to the outside but Pain lands on the apron. He goes for a suplex to the outside, but Generico hits a dropkick knocking Pain to the floor. Generico goes to the ropes and goes for a dive, Pain moves, and Generico backflips off the ropes into the ring and lands on his feet. Pain walks to the other side but Generico is over the ropes and hits Pain with a plancha. Generico brings Pain back into the ring for a 1 count. Generico hits a rib breaker followed by a split-legged moonsault for a 2 count. Generico takes Pain to the ropes but Pain dodges and Generico tries to leap over him, but Pain catches him with a modified flapjack. Pain has Generico going in the ropes and hits a botched spinebuster followed by a dropkick to the face for 2. Pain hits 2 stiff kicks, misses 1, but makes up with another. Pain powerbombs Generico and covers for a 2 count. Pain has Generico in the corner and chokes him, but breaks it up. Generico reverses it and whips him to the opposite side and goes for a Yakuza kick but is blocked and is met with a Dragon Screw into an STF by Pain. Generico gets to the ropes though. Pain sets Generico up for the Painthriller but blocks it and Pain tosses him to the floor. Pain has a chair and hits Generico in the back with it. Pain brings him around the ring and tosses him into the guardrail. Pain gets the fans to move. Pain moves Generico and looks to throw him. Generico tosses Pain into the same guardrail and looks to dive at him, but Pain Belly-To-Bellys him over the guardrail onto a bunch of chairs! Generico is down. Pain goes into the crowd and tosses Generico onto a few of the chairs. Pain takes Generico around the Arena and hits Generico with a trash can. He takes a fan’s drink and hits Generico with that. He does something else but the camera-man moves away and we don’t see what happened. They are now on the floor around the ring. Pain hits a kick and a chairshot to the top of the head of Generico, and Pain clotheslines him down. Pain pushes him into the guardrail and breaks the count from the ref. He goes to toss him into the turnbuckle but Generico reverses and Pain goes into the turnbuckle. He goes to the other side of the ring and Generico dives THROUGH the bottom and middle ropes and hits Pain with a Tornado DDT on the floor!! That was amazing. Generico brings Pain back into the ring and Generico hits a springboard tope on Pain. Generico grabs Pain’s hand and goes off the ropes into a Tornado DDT for a 2 count. Generico puts Pain on the top turnbuckle signaling for the Brainbustah. He gets Pain up but Pain flips over to the back of Generico and hits him with an absolutely killer German Suplex dropping Generico on the back of his head, and Generico just looks dead!!! Both men are down. Maven calls for “El Medico”. Haha. Duey throws a couple chairs in the ring. Pain goes to grab the second one, but Generico has the other and hits him a couple times. Pain has a chair on his neck and goes for a powerslam but Generico reverses and kicks the chair sending Pain into the corner. He goes to the other side and hits a running Yakuza Kick onto the chair! He goes for a cover but gets 2! Generico goes to the top rope Pain runs up and hits a Belly-To-Belly off the middle rope for another 2 count. Pain starts unfolding the two chairs and gets another and 3 chairs are all set up. Pain has Generico and goes for the Painthriller but Generico counters. He goes for a brainbuster, but Pain counters and grabs Generico in the Painthriller position and drops Generico on the BACK OF HIS HEAD ONTO ALL 3 CHAIRS!!! That hurts me while I watch it. That is all as Pain gets Generico for the 3 count.

There was really nice work by working on Generico’s head throughout the entire match. This is one of my personal favorite matches from CZW this year. Both men went out and gave some of their best(inparticularly Pain) and just made for a great contest. Pain puts over Generico on the mic. Generico is being helped out of the ring by 2 security members. I really can honestly say that Generico is a modern day version of how Mysterio was all those years back in terms of working as an underdog. He can get with the fans really quickly and they just love him. Great contest, with it really picking up towards the end.

Winner: Justice Pain at 16:03 ***3/4

UltraViolent Underground Championship – Panes of Glass Match: Nick Gage© with Duey Donavan vs. Danny Havoc vs. DJ Hyde
Just in case people were wondering about why the UVU title is not mentioned under the title listing on CZWrestling.com…well I honestly don’t have an answer. I guess because it is Underground? Heh. Who knows. Havoc and Hyde have been feuding since the start of the year. Gage and Hyde have feuded in the past in tag team matches. There are two panes set up in opposite corners. They are just there for the match as you still win by pinfall. DJ Hyde is the monster of course. Havoc is compared to being a modern day Mikey Whipwreck. You won’t know this though until towards the end of the year. I have a personal thing for Nick Gage matches just for hearing “For Whom The Bell Tolls” by Metallica. Hyde and Havoc start off by double teaming on Gage and knock him out of the ring. Hyde and Havoc start exchanging punches, in which Havoc’s have little effect. Havoc gets knocked down by a huge headbutt by Hyde. Hyde is bleeding from hitting him so hard. Gage hits Hyde in the quad with a chair and then gets rid of it. Gage knocks Hyde out of the ring and hits Hyde with another chair. Hyde and Gage are fighting by the guardrail. Hyde suplexes Gage back-first onto the guardrail and one of Gage’s boots hits a fan in the head, knocking him out instantly. Security is checking on him. Havoc is on the top rope and corkscrews onto Hyde on the floor. Havoc is bleeding too. Havoc gets a table from under the ring. Havoc hits an exchange of kicks and punches on Hyde and Gage. Gage feels no effect though and is merciless with him and hits Havoc with a toss to the guardrail and a chairshot. Hyde gets a chair and hits Gage multiple times then throws Havoc into the guardrail. The table is set up against the guardrail so the metal portions are sticking out towards the ring. Hyde powerbombs Havoc through said table. “CZW” chant breaks out. Hyde tosses Havoc back in the ring. He gets rid of Havoc’s shirt and sets Havoc up in the tree of woe and exchanges kicks to the back and slaps to the chest. Gage hits a face wash on Havoc. Crowd chants “One more time” and Gage listens to them. Gage and Hyde exchange after a few punches and a low blow. Gage goes for a forearm but Hyde belly-to-bellys him into the Pane! Gage looks like he got cut. Hyde grabs a shard of the glass and sticks it in the cut. Havoc is up and hits forearms on Hyde, but Hyde headbutts him and pushes him into the corner followed by some chops. He tosses Havoc to the other side and splashes into Havoc. He hits a running punch on Havoc followed by a VICIOUS LARIAT turning Havoc into dead weight. Hyde sets up for a Shadow Driver but Hyde is met with chair-shots from Gage. Havoc swings at Gage but is met with a Chokebreaker (Chokeslam Backbreaker onto Gage’s downed knee)! Duey slides in quite a few chairs and Gage sets up 4 in a corner. Gage moves the Pane of Glass draped across the 4 chairs. Havoc takes him to the corner that the glass is in and sets him up on the top rope and PILEDRIVES HIM OFF THE MIDDLE ROPE THROUGH THE GLASS!!! Gage covers him and that is it. As Gage walks to the back, Hyde grabs Havoc and hits him with a Shadow Driver (think a modified Psycho Driver II.) Havoc is helped to the back afterwards and is cut a lot on his back.

This is the aspect of CZW that a bunch of people do not like but they have kept this a really shortened level throughout 2006. I can see how people compare Havoc to Whipwreck in the sense where he comes off like the guy who you know will not win but has the heart of a winner. Hyde, I have never been a fan of but even he did not look terrible here. Even if you are not a fan of this stuff, it is short enough to the point where it won’t plague you throughout the rest of the show.

Winner: Nick Gage retaining the UVU Title at 8:42 **3/4

End of Disc 1 – Start of Disc 2

Larry Sweeney is now in the booth replacing Maven Bentley.

The CZW Iron Man Champion Kevin Steen comes to the ring and gets on the microphone. Steen yells at Eric saying that the commentary team needs to be quiet when he cuts promos after last month. Some of the crowd chants “overrated” at Steen. He wants to address the ROH-CZW feud mentioning how you have to take a side. He mentions that he and Dragon have a lot of issues (a year long feud in PWG), but he puts over Dragon for doing what was right for the company at ROH’s Arena Warfare. A couple fans chant “ROH” but Steen tells the smarks to calm down. Haha. He mentions how his ROH tenure did not work out too well and puts over that he is with CZW now and is the Iron Man Champion. He says he has one thing to say to Ring of Honor….PLEASE TAKE ME BACK. He hates CZW and says he will take the belt to them. Dragon’s music hits and we have our Iron Man Championship match.

CZW Iron Man Championship: Kevin Steen© vs. Super Dragon
Steen slides to the outside. Immediately once Dragon gets in the ring he tope conhilos to the outside on Steen! Dragon whips Steen into the guardrail and the two brawl around the ring exchanging chops and punches, including Dragon tossing a box of chicken at Steen. Steen hits a facewash on Dragon while he is sitting in a chair in the corner of the guardrail. The two finally make it into the ring and Steen immediately tries to hit the Package Piledriver, Dragon reverses and hooks up for a Psycho Driver but Steen reverses and goes for a Package Piledriver again but Dragon flips him over. Steen catches him and takes him down but Dragon rolls through and hits a Curb Stomp on Steen! And Larry Sweeney just cussed on commentary for the first time that I have ever heard calling Dragon a fucked up guy. That rules. Continuing, Dragon whips him to the corner and goes to dive into Steen’s gut but Steen moves and Dragon hits the post and falls to the floor. Steen goes up to the top turnbuckle, but Dragon knocks him down to the apron and they exchange punches from other sides of the apron. Steen pulls Dragon through so he is wedged in the corner on the middle ropes. Steen jumps up and drops his knee into Dragon’s gut, knocking him to the ring mat! Steen goes up to the middle rope and pushes off dropping his knees into Dragon’s gut again for a 2 count. He chokes Dragon. Steen gets distracted by the fans and Dragon is up to his knees but Steen kicks Dragon in the head knocking him down. Steen picks up Dragon and has him in an Abdominal Stretch which some of the crowd chants “holy shit” for. Dragon gets out and gets whipped into the corner, and Steen runs at him but gets a boot to the face and has his back facing Dragon. Dragon goes off the top rope and rolls over Steen, sending Steen to the opposite turnbuckle. Dragon runs up but is met with a boot. Steen jumps up and stomps on Dragon’s chest. Some fans chant “ROH” but it is drowned out by “CZW” chants. Steen grabs Dragon but Dragon counters and goes for a clothesline, but Steen counters into a Reverse-Lungblower followed by a Senton for a 2 count. Steen locks in a submission on Dragon butterflying his arms from behind him with his legs while kicking him in the back of the head, but Dragon gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. The crowd chants “You fat fuck” at Steen causing him to do push ups. Right when Steen pushes up, Dragon is back to his feet and doublestomps on the back of Steen’s head. Steen is put into a corner and is met with a chop. Dragon goes to set up for a Psycho Driver but Steen counters, but Dragon overpowers him with chops into the corner. Dragon gets put in the corner by Steen now and Steen runs up, but Dragon counters and Dragon jumps off and hits Steen with a forearm to the face. Steen crawls to the ropes with his head sticking out from the bottom rope. Dragon springboards over the top rope and stomps on the back of Steen’s head. Both men are down on the floor. Dragon gets back to his feet first and puts Steen back in the ring. Dragon goes up top and hits a Cannonball Senton for a 2 count. Dragon goes up top again, but Steen is up and hits Dragon with a rib breaker from a fireman’s carry position. Steen goes up and hits a Senton Bomb off the top for a 2 count. Steen struggles but gets back to his feet. He sets up the Package Piledriver, but Dragon drops to one knee. Steen goes for a powerbomb but Dragon gets out of it and goes for a clothesline but Steen ducks and hits Dragon with a Superkick for a 2 count. Steen moves him near the turnbuckle and goes up but Dragon grabs one of Steen’s feet but Steen kicks Dragon. Steen goes up, but Dragon knocks him down and goes up and hits a Back Suplex off the middle rope. Dragon goes up top. BJ Whitmer runs out and gets on the apron and grabs Dragon long enough for Steen to get to his feet. Whitmer jumps down and Steen grabs Dragon and hits Dragon with the Package Piledriver followed by a 450 Splash for the 3 Count!

Not a bad match. I loved their Guerrilla Warfare Match at PWG’s Astonishing X-mas a lot more personally but then again that had a lot more heat. This was still a good match and is worth watching however. I really liked the reversals in this. Whitmer was a nice surprise, and helped influence his interpromotional feud with Super Dragon.

Winner: Kevin Steen retaining the Iron Man Championship at 14:49 **3/4

Whitmer comes in and stomps on Dragon. Whitmer poses. Steen gets on the mic and says what happened earlier to Whitmer was the most disgusting thing he has ever seen and that he won’t stand for it. He issues a challenge for next month for anyone in the locker-room to take on Whitmer and himself next month. Necro Butcher runs out and brawls with Whitmer. Steen and Whitmer double-team Necro. Steen gets a chair and hits Dragon with it, followed by a shot to the gut on Necro. Whitmer throws Dragon to the outside. Whitmer hits an Exploder on Necro onto an open chair! Whitmer locks the chair on Necro’s bare foot and Steen jumps onto the chair off the top rope. Dragon is up and swings at Steen but Steen makes it to the outside. BLKOUT come out and chase Steen & Whitmer away. Dragon, Ruckus, Kingston, Robbie Mireno, along with referees and Maven Bentley check on Necro. “CZW” chants break out really loudly. Dragon & Kingston break out into words. Know that Ruckus & Dragon have been feuding over the past few months. Kingston breaks out another “CZW” chant from the crowd.

Jr. Heavyweight Championship – Ladder Match: Cheech vs. Cloudy vs. Heretic vs. Niles Young vs. Sabian vs. Derek Frazier©
There are 5 Ladders. Cheech & Cloudy came into CZW in a match against each other at Cage of Death 7 and team together. Heretic is taped up on his upper chest. Frazier & Young feuded last year included Frazier winning the title from Young in September of 2005. With 6-men, the action may be difficult to cover in terms of all of it. Cheech & Cloud double-team on Frazier on the outside. Sabian tope conhilos onto all 3 of them. Niles runs to the ropes and hits a Yakuza kick on Heretic. Niles goes to dive out but Sabian hits him with a chair. Sabian brings in a huge ladder. Cloudy scales up it, but Sabian drags him down. Everyone tries going up but people get repeatedly pulled down. Sabian hits Cloudy with a chair while he is climbing. Cheech sets a ladder up against the ropes. Derek planchas onto Young on the outside. Cheech hits a somewhat weak looking Canadian Destroyer while flipping over Heretic. Heretic goes to kick Cheech in the face, but Cheech turns him around and kicks Heretic below the belt. Cheech and Cloudy double-team on Heretic where Cloudy hits a 619 but Cheech dropkicks Heretic in the back of the head. The two then double-team on Sabian with chops and kicks. Young whips Frazier into the guardrail. Cheech has Cloudy set up a ladder in the corner, but Cheech turns on Cloudy and Pumphandle Suplexes Cloudy into the ladder. Niles hits Cheech and goes to whip Niles into the ladder but Niles stops and Cheech dropkicks him into the ladder. Sabian comes in and dropkicks Cheech into Niles. Sabian lays Cheech on a large ladder, then Niles on Cheech, then the small ladder on Niles. Sabian hits a Cannonball Senton onto the ladder! Sabian then sets the large ladder up. Heretic hits a springboard dropkick on Sabian knocking him off. Frazier hits a Piledriver on Heretic and Frazier then Piledrivers the ladder onto Heretic’s face. Frazier climbs the large ladder, but Cloudy throws the small ladder at Frazier’s back. Cloudy climbs the small ladder and the two exchange many chops. Cloudy hits an Ace Crusher on Frazier taking him off the ladder! Cloudy starts climbing the large ladder. Cheech is back in though and takes Cloudy down. Cheech stomps on Cloudy’s knee and then hits a Shinbreaker on Cloudy. Sabian and Cheech then exchange kicks in which it looks like Sabian has the upper hand but Cheech punches Sabian and takes him down and hits a Shinbreaker on Sabian followed by a modified atomic drop where instead of dropping Sabian on his crotch, dropped Sabian knees first into the mat. Heretic hits Niles and Sabian with chair-shots. Cheech tosses Cloudy knee-first into the small ladder in the corner. Heretic hits a backbreaker on Cheech, dropping Cheech onto his knee. Sabian gets back in the ring and brawls with Heretic . Heretic hits a dropkick on Sabian’s knee. Heretic suplexes Sabian onto a small ladder. Frazier is back in the ring with a chair and sets up the small ladder in the open chair, and moves the ladder so it is wedged now on the bottom rope in the corner and on the chair. Heretic has Sabian on the turnbuckle above this contraption. Frazier kicks Niles in the face. Sabian moves Heretic into the Tree of Woe and hits the BLACK JESUS STOMP ON HERETIC ON THE LADDER!

Sabian and Frazier have some reversals ending in what Frazier calls the 360 Kamikaze(like a spinning Unprettier)! Niles is back in and hits a Blue Thunder Driver on Frazier. Niles climbs up the ladder. Cloudy is back in and holds Niles knee. Cloudy’s knee is hurting. Cheech goes on the other side of the ladder that you are not supposed to go on and locks Niles in a Sleeper Hold! Cheech pushes Niles off. Cloudy hits Cheech with a large ladder in the head, making Cheech dizzy and the ladder bends and Cheech falls into the turnbuckle arm-first! Heretic back-body drops Sabian onto a small ladder on the outside. Cloudy sets up a large ladder puts a small one on top of the large one horizontally in the corner. Niles knocks Cloudy down and almost loses his balance. Niles goes up top on the turnbuckle where the ladders are. Cloudy pushes Niles onto the ladders he has set up. Frazier climbs the large ladder and splashes onto Niles!! Sabian goes up and hits the Black Jesus Stomp on Frazier. Cheech sets up a ladder on the side of the ring mat and the guardrail. Sabian climbs the broken ladder, but Niles pushes him off onto the ropes. Niles is holding his arm. Cheech moves the damaged ladder into the same position on the guardrail as the previous one, and brings the previous one into the ring. He is bleeding from his mouth. Sabian and Niles are brawling on the outside. Heretic hits a SNAPMARE DDT ON FRAZIER ONTO A CHAIR!!! Ow!!! Niles sets Sabian up on a table and hits a senton onto Sabian!. Cloudy sets up Cheech for a Canadian Destroyer on the ring apron like what happened at Cage of Death 7 but Cheech lifts Cloudy up and maneuvers to that ladder wedged inbetween the guardrail and the ring mat. CLOUDY CANADIAN DESTROYERS CHEECH ONTO THE LADDER!!!!! Niles hits Sabian with a hard chairshot on the outside. Heretic climbs a ladder in the middle of the ring while Frazier Is set up on a table. Frazier gets up and hits a neckbreaker off the top of the ladder onto Heretic through the table. It looked like he wanted to go for a Cash Flow as he signaled towards the sky for Chris Cash I am presuming but it still worked out. Niles lines the ladder up and gets the belt! Niles is your new champion!

Frazier gets up and hits the Pure Impact(Reverse Suplex into an Emerald Flowsion) on Niles! Sabian hits Niles with a chair afterwards. Everyone is down. Cheech looks dead. Heretic is bleeding from his eye. “CZW” chant breaks out.

As you can probably tell, this was a HUGE spotfest. With that said, some of these spots were very amazing and cringe worthy. There was a good story being told by everyone except Niles having their knee affected thus leading to Niles being the one to win the match. Everyone deserves praise after going through this. If there was more history in the match, I would call this one of the best ladder matches ever, but it was certainly the best one in recent time in my opinion in terms of action.

Winner: NEW Jr. Heavyweight Champion Niles Young at 15:10 ***1/2

GenNext enters and are getting mostly boos but there are some ROH fans cheering them on. Small “ROH” chant breaks out. CZW fans counter with a “CZW” chant. Roderick gets a mic but the mic won’t work. Eric jokes about how who would not give the ROH guy a working microphone? “Ring of Homos” chant starts and Roderick tells them to shut up and says they are the ones whacking off to gay porn all day and that they are the homos. Got to love Roderick insults. Roderick says fuck BLKOUT and fuck the CZW fans and gives the Aries the mic. Aries makes comments about how someone needs to clean up the pieces of glass and broken tables. “You’re a pussy” chant at Aries. Aries puts over ROH as being the best 3 letters out there and not CZW. Aries takes a shot at Kingston by saying “I’d rather stick a needle in my ass than a dick in my ass like you.” That was gold. Eric takes a funny shot saying “They are not allowed here, Sweeney, and they are not allowed in Orlando for 2 months either(suspension way back when).” BLKOUT enter the ring and it is just Kingston, Ruckus, and Mireno. Kingston humps the ROH mat. Haha. Mireno gets on the mic and says GenNext are about to get their asses handed to them. Loud “CZW” chants. Joker is not there and LOBO won’t let Sabian wrestle, so BLKOUT is at a number disadvantage but it does not matter to them. GenNext stall with getting in the ring. “Let’s go BLKOUT” chant. GenNext finally gets in their corner. “Fuck ROH” chant. The bell rings and the main event is underway.

Interpromotional Main Event: Generation Next(Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, & Matt Sydal) vs. BLKOUT(Eddie Kingston & Ruckus) with Robbie Mireno
Ruckus and Matt Sydal start off. “Fuck em up BLKOUT, fuck em up” chant. Ruckus & Sydal lock up, and Sydal has a headlock on Ruckus. Ruckus throws Sydal to the ropes but Sydal takes him down. The two exchange many running dodges from each other and end up in a stare-down causing the crowd to applaud for both men. Simultaneous “CZW” & “ROH” chants. Sydal tags Roderick in. Ruckus tags Kingston in. “Eddie” chants. “Fuck em up Kingston, fuck em up” chant. Kingston did some charades mocking Roderick by pretending to stick a needle in his ass. The two lock up, and Roderick takes down Eddie and twists Eddie’s ankle then slaps Eddie in the back of the head. The two lock up again. Roderick fakes a chop on Eddie. The two then go into chop exchanges. They seem pretty even. Roderick locks up Kingston’s arm and tags in Aries who hits a knee on Eddie’s extended arm. The 3 then triple team Kingston while Bryce Remsburg is distracted by Ruckus. GenNext mocks Eddie by having Sydal & Roderick hold Eddie’s arms and have him bent over while Aries stands on his back and poses.

Out comes The Necro Butcher! He gets in the ring and takes out all of GenNext. Necro and Roderick brawl around the ring, Eddie brawls with Sydal, and Ruckus brawls with Aries. Ruckus hits a Shooting Star Press on Sydal off the apron to the floor! Roderick & Kingston exchange forearms. Kingston brings Sydal back in the ring. Kingston hits a splash on Sydal in the corner followed by a Belly-To-Belly Suplex. Necro’s ankle is still hurting from earlier. Eddie runs up against Sydal, but Aries jumped in and clotheslined Kingston. Roderick chops Eddie hard. Roderick suplexes Kingston and tags in Aries. The two do a double leg sweep on Eddie, and Kingston chases Roderick out. Aries takes Eddie to the GenNext corner and knees Eddie. Aries tags in Sydal. Sydal kicks at Eddie. Sydal tags in Aries again. Aries picks up Kingston but Aries hits a back rake on Kingston and takes cheap shots at Ruckus and Necro. Roderick comes in after a “tag”. Roderick tags in Sydal and Sydal dropkicks Kingston in the back of the head. Sydal tags in Aries. Kingston punches Aries repeatedly. Aries hits a neckbreaker on Kingston. Aries drops a knee on Kingston’s head. He does a slow-mo one, but Aries missed. Kingston rolls over and tags in Ruckus. Ruckus hits a handspring spinning wheel kick on Aries. Ruckus backflips and catches Roderick in a hurricanrana takedown. Sydal comes in and Ruckus hits a leg sweep on him followed by a standing corkscrew moonsault for a 2 count. Sydal rolls out and Aries comes in. Ruckus hits a doubleknee attack on Aries in the corner then a Razzle Dazzle in the corner. He goes over and knocks Sydal and Roderick off the apron. Aries hits a clothesline on Ruckus and tags in Roderick. Roderick stands on Ruckus’s back then hits an elbow drop for a 2 count. Chop on Ruckus in the corner then a tag to Sydal. Scoop slam by Ruckus and a standing moonsault by Sydal for 2. Sydal locks in a Bow & Arrow on Ruckus. He breaks it He picks up Ruckus, but Ruckus counters and goes to the ropes, but Sydal counters and hits a Reverse DDT with Sydal using his leg to take down Ruckus for a 2 count. Strong tags in and slams Ruckus. Aries tags in and hits his slingshot corkscrew then hits a moonsault off the middle rope. He picks Ruckus up and hits a knee to Ruckus’s face. Cover for 2. “Let’s go Ruckus” chant. Aries misses the Pendulum Elbow on Ruckus. Aries drags Ruckus over and Roderick tags in and hits Necro. Roderick suplexes Ruckus. Backbreaker by Roderick. Roderick has a headlock with a knee into Ruckus’s lower back. Ruckus drags him to the outside and pushes Ruckus into the side of the ring twice then puts Ruckus back in the ring.

Cover for 2 after being broken up by Kingston. Roderick slingshots Ruckus into a springboard clothesline by Sydal, causing Ruckus to land on Roderick’s knees. Aries hits a springboard hilo on Ruckus. Roderick goes for a cover for 2. Roderick chokes Ruckus with his boot but breaks it up and tags in Aries. Roderick powerbombs Ruckus. Aries drops an elbow for 2. Aries has a headlock on Ruckus. The crowd claps for Ruckus and Ruckus breaks up a headlock and goes to run but Aries pulls him down. Ruckus springs back up though and hits a Pele kick on Aries, making aries woozy. Ruckus tags in Necro Butcher while Aries tags in Sydal. Necro has headbutts for all of GenNext and hits a Tiger Driver on Sydal for 2 after being broken up by Roderick. Roderick and Aries hit a kick and running dropkick on Necro in the corner. Ruckus hits a spinning kick on Aries and Kingston throws him to the outside. Kingston kicks Roderick into the corner. Eddie looks for a Belly-To-Belly than a lariat but misses and Roderick hits a running kick right to Kingston’s face. Ruckus is back in with Aries and Necro goes for Roderick. Roderick kicks Necro in the face twice and hits a Half Nelson Backbreaker on Necro, followed by one to Ruckus. Sydal is in with Kingston who hits an Exploder on Sydal. Aries breaks up the cover. Roderick hits the Death By Roderick(Gutbuster with the two knees) on Kingston. Aries hits a Brainbuster on Kingston. Roderick keeps Necro out. Sydal hits a BEAUTIFUL Shooting Star Press and gets the cover on Kingston for the 3 count!!!

Ruckus covers up Kingston but Aries & Sydal beat down on both of them. Roderick stomps on Necro. Out comes Zandig, Justice Pain, and Nick Gage. Justice keeps Roderick & Aries away and Zandig punches at Sydal and Zandig hits a HUGE spinning powerbomb on Sydal! He then hits Sydal with the ROH tag title to the face, and proceeds to wipe his ass with the belt. Gage then hits a facewash on Sydal. He goes for another but Aries drags him out too quickly. “I’d like to see someone take the weedwhacker to Gabe Sapolsky myself” says Eric. Damn. LOBO is in the ring now too. He gets on the mic. He makes a comment on ROH but I can’t really understand it due to the crowd. Zandig guarantees that GenNext will die when they win the war. Justice thanks the fans for putting up with hours and hours of wrestling tonight. GenNext leaves. Pain tells Kingston “way to drop the ball.” Kingston looks pissed and goes nuts in the ring. “Eddie” chant followed by a “BLKOUT” chant.

The match itself I thought was really good. Very good action. The work on Ruckus was done very well. I like how GenNext went out of their way to target Kingston as well. Necro did not do a whole lot but he was a nice surprise. Slightly “underwhelmed” as I expected more personally but it was still a good match and a nice way to close off the show. I did like the opener from earlier slightly better though.

The 411: The total time between both discs with all of the promos and matches is 3:27:55. 1 very underwhelming match, 1 fun hardcore one, 2 very good tag matches, an insane ladder match, and a very fun and great singles match makes for an awesome show. While none were what I consider MOTYCs(although Generico/Pain was considered to be one by many fans) none of the show was horrible. Definitely one of CZW’s best this year and it is a shame that they did not utilize the ROH talent better on their side of the ROH-CZW feud as they could have gotten REALLY huge after this show.
