Puerto Rico News: Savio Vega to WWC?
For many years the fans of both, World Wrestling Council and IWA: Puerto Rico have begged for a joint show/invasion angle between both promotions. It seems this year those wishes will come true.
Last night, WWC Co-owner Carlos Colon and IWA: Puerto Rico’s Co-owner Savio Vega appeared together in a local talk show, Ahora Podemos Hablar with Carmen Jovet. They where the guests to talk about the respective big shows for both companies (WWC Anniversario and IWA: PR’s Jose Miguel Perez Cup). Both men where cordial with each other, Savio went on to admit that Carlos has the biggest following and both of them admitted that they are not enemies, just business rivals.
Then the conversation moved to Carlito’s drug issues. Once again Carlos mentioned that it was due to pain killers and that Carlito will be back in the WWE before the end of the year.
This is when things got heated as Savio said that he never used drugs, even painkillers, when he was in the WWE and that he had to endure as much travel and pain as Carlito does. Savio told Carlos that his son was a junkie and that he needed to admit facts. Savio then proceeded to throw a bunch of pills in Colon’s face, causing him to leave the show. Savio then hyped IWA’s show and said he would never work for WWC or show up at Aniversario.
This has all the makings of an angle to promote a Aniversario and a couple of joint shows. Here are some interesting facts that lead many to believe this is a work:
– Savio and WWC have been talking about him coming in to work Aniversario for some time.
– The “Dream Match” between Carlito and El Mesias went down the drain when Mesias suffered a shoulder injury in Mexico and had to have surgery. He will now work the show as the “Special Guest Referee” for the bout between Rey Gonzales and Scott Steiner for the WWC Universal Title.
– Carlito is already scheduled to work a show in Texas for Booker T’s promotion on July 19th. Aniversario is on July 10th, so chances are he can work that date as well.
– If Carlito can work that date, then we can have another “Dream Match” main event to replace the Mesias match. Carlito and Savio are known as the first two Puerto Ricans to make it to the WWE and are considered to be two of the most successful Puerto Rican wrestlers internationally. Therefore, a “Dream Match” between Carlito and Savio would be a big draw for the Aniversario show. Since Savio also promoted IWA’s show, IWA promoted Savio’s appearance in the talk show and it seems there have been vague hints about Savio working in WWC during IWA’s shows, we are led to believe that more IWA names will join the Aniversario card and that we will see some joint shows between both companies.
