Kane Wins Republican Primary in Knox County Mayoral Race
– Kane has won the Republican nominee for mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. WATE reports that the WWE star — real name Glenn Jacobs — beat his opponents Brad Anders and Bob Thomas. Jacobs won by just seventeen votes, with 14,633 to Anders’ 14,616. Thomas received 11,296 votes.
It is important to note that whilw 100% of precincts have reported in, there are forty-three provisional ballots still to be counted and thus the results won’t be official until next week. Provisional ballets are those where there are questions about voter eligibility election officials said that it’s probably that not all of them will be valid. Thirty-eight of the ballots have no record of voter registration, four had no photo IDs and one had to vote by paper due to an issue with the electronic voting system.
Assuming Kane is certified when the final votes are in, he will go up against former Knox County Democratic Party chair Linda Haney, who won the Democratic primary. He posted to Twitter throughout the day has he did some last-minute campaigning:
