Richard Donner Says Lethal Weapon 5 Will Be The Last In The Series

In an interview with The Telegraph, director Richard Donner said the planned fifth film in the Lethal Weapon series will be the final entry. There hasn’t been a Lethal Weapon sequel since Lethal Weapon 4 in 1998. The series was dormant until the short-lived TV reboot which ran for three seasons from 2016 to 2019.

He said: ““This is the final one. It’s both my privilege and duty to put it to bed. It’s exciting, actually…Hahaha! It’s the last one, I’ll promise you that.”

Donner, who turned 90 this year, has said that he will direct the film. Both Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are expected to return to play Martin Riggs and Roger Murtagh, respectively. Mel Gibson said last month that the movie is still in the works.
