Backstage Injury Update on MJF, Reportedly Not Undergoing Surgery
– As previously reported, AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) is dealing with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. This is also on top of his recently dislocated hip injury. Dave Meltzer had an update on MJF on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, MJF is still dealing with the pain from the hip injury, but the swelling from the hip injury has been reduced. Additionally, Meltzer is reporting that MJF is not going to have surgery on his torn labrum, and he plans on undergoing physical therapy and stem cell treatment to deal with his ailments.
The AEW World Champion’s shoulder injury is described as a “pretty big tear.” He also reportedly had a similar tear when he was feuding with Jungle Boy and they had a match at Double or Nothing 2020, but this injury is said to be bigger than the one he had several years ago.
MJF is expected to work through the injury for his scheduled title bout with Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End. It’s scheduled for December 30 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. AEW Worlds End will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
On behalf of 411, we send our best wishes to MJF for a full and quick recovery.
