Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC 313, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. It’s been a full month since the last PPV and the UFC has brought a decent if not exactly very deep card. The main event is a good one as arguably the fighting face of the UFC, light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira tries for another title defense against top contender Magomed Ankalaev. Ankalaev fought for the vacant title in 2022 but only managed a draw with Jan Blachowicz while Pereira is trying to equal a record of four title defenses in less than a year which hasn’t been done since Jon Jones accomplished that feat during the early days of his legendary light heavyweight title run. The co-main event was supposed to be Justin Gaethje vs. Dan Hooker but Hooker suffered a hand injury and was pulled from the fight, so on short notice Rafael Fiziev steps in to rematch Gaethje. Things drop off a little bit after that but Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Jalin Turner might be fun, and King Green vs. Mauricio Ruffy is a solid enough PPV opener. On the prelims Joshua Van vs. Rei Tsuruya stands out, Brunno Ferreira vs. Armen Petrosyan probably has some fireworks as well. So while it’s not the deepest card it does have some potential. Now let’s hope the action at least lives up to that potential.
UFC 313 comes to the world from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier will be calling the action. Keep in mind we’re in the regular 30 foot cage and all the new rules are in play so hopefully someone starts getting the better of the new definition of a downed fighter.
A few hours before the event the fight between John Castaneda and Chris Gutierrez was called off due to an illness on the part of Castaneda. At that same time we lost Blaydes vs. Kuniev due to a Blaydes illness, and nothing of value was lost with that fight falling out.
Djorden Santos brings a five fight winning streak into his UFC debut and now looks to make it a memorable one. Ozzy Diaz dropped his UFC debut last year and is now trying to get that all important first UFC win under his belt. Santos is your -190 favorite to +160 for Diaz.
Middleweight Bout: Ozzy Diaz (9-3, 185.5 lbs.) vs. Djorden Santos (10-1, 185.5 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Diaz is four inches taller with three and a half of reach advantage. Some early “woos” so you know it’s going to be a long night. SCORECARD: 10-9 Diaz, 29-28 Santos overall
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Ozzy Diaz via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
Well that surprises me, I thought Santos won the second. Mic time for Diaz, he can’t see out of his left eye which happened in the first round and he had to dig deep after that. He does the bit of inspirational speech to close.
Mairon Santos is on a four fight winning streak including his UFC debut last year, now he’s looking to extend that streak and solidify himself as a notable prospect. Francis Marshall has gone 2-2 in the UFC but he is coming off of a win and could get his first UFC winning streak up and running. Santos is the -260 favorite to a +210 comeback on Marshall.
Featherweight Bout: Francis Marshall (8-2, 146 lbs.) vs. Mairon Santos (14-1, 145.5 lbs.)

ROUND TWO: Bit of a calf kick from Santos to start the round. Marshall avoids a few punches then Santos lands another calf kick. Both men land lefts. Marshall lands a right hand to counter an inside leg kick. Santos blocks a few punches. Marshall’s nose is bleeding, not badly but it’s there. Santos lands a left hook. Front kick from Santos. Glancing right hand from Santos. They trade lefts again, this methodical pace seems to favor Santos at this point as he’s back to scoring somewhat regularly. Double leg from Marshall but Santos elevates him and scrambles up with Marshall holding the ride position. Mat return from Marshall but he can’t keep Santos down and Santos gets to the fence. Santos is able to break the grip of Marshall and turn into him then spin free. Glancing head kick from Santos will close out the round.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Santos but a close one, 19-19 overall

SCORECARD: 10-9 Marshall but another close one, 29-28 Marshall overall
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Mairon Santos via split decision (27-30, 29-28 x2)
Marshall is pissed at that and the crowd is booing but frankly 29-28 either way is fine. Mic time for Santos, he feels he did enough to win the second and third round and notes the takedowns didn’t mean anything and points out how Marshall was bleeding at the end of things. He puts over Marshall’s toughness but again feels he won based on damage. Commentary buries the decision as well.
Alex Morono has gone 2-4 in his last six fights and is on a two fight losing streak, at 34 years old and with a UFC run dating back to 2016 one has to imagine a third consecutive loss would be disastrous for his aspirations in the promotion. Carlos Leal lost his UFC debut last year but that was against Rinat Fakhretdinov and he’s hoping that Morono will make for a more appropriate skill match which could result in his first UFC win. Leal is a big favorite at -700 against +500 for Morono.
Welterweight Bout: Carlos Leal (21-6, 169 lbs.) vs. Alex Morono (24-11 1 NC, 171 lbs.)

Counter right hook from Leal lands, he’s starting to land constantly. Body shot from Leal then an elbow in close. Morono is backing up and Leal unloads on him against the fence including a nasty body shot. Morono fails a takedown. Leal with more body shots then knees in a clinch and a few elbows, he’s just battering Morono now. They both swing in close but Morono is robotic while Leal is digging to the body and reading him. Another right from Leal staggers Morono, he keeps unloading against the fence and eventually the ref steps in.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Carlos Leal via TKO, punches, at 4:16 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Leal for his work. Mic time for Leal and the translator after that heck of a performance, he thanks God and gives glory to Him then says he feels he’s 2-0 after a bad decision in his last fight. To close he wishes a Happy International Women’s Day specifically to his wife and his mother.

Brunno Ferreira has gone 3-2 in the UFC but he is coming off of a loss and now tries to avoid his first UFC losing streak. Armen Petrosyan has gone 3-3 in the UFC but he is on a two fight losing streak and pretty badly needs to halt that skid to prove he’s really found his footing in the UFC. Petrosyan is slightly favored at -140 while +120 for Ferreira might be a tempting value bet.
Middleweight Bout: Brunno Ferreira (12-2, 186 lbs.) vs. Armen Petrosyan (8-4, 186 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Petrosyan is five inches taller while Ferreira has an inch of reach advantage. They touch gloves to get things going. They send a few probing kicks back and forth. Ferreira lands a lunging left hook but can’t quite follow up. Ferreira complains of a low blow so we’ve got a time out. Replay isn’t quite clear, but Ferreira doesn’t take long anyway and we’re back to fighting. Another groin kick lands on Ferreira as he moved into an inside leg kick so we’ve got another time out. No doubt about this one, that was full on shin to cup. The ref takes a point from Petrosyan and we’re back to fighting after a minute. Ferreira tries to lunge with punches but can’t find the target yet. Leg kick from Petrosyan then a knee to stifle a takedown attempt. They trade rights then Petrosyan lands a leg kick. Right hooks are traded. Bit of a high kick from Petrosyan. Ferreira looks to push forward and lands a front kick. Body kick from Petrosyan. Ferreira tries a takedown but that stalls out on the fence. They scramble around a bit then separate. Petrosyan lands another body kick then a jab. Petrosyan with a right hand, he’s got Ferreira against the fence. Bit of a left hook from Petrosyan. A front kick from Petrosyan closes the round.
SCORECARD: 9-9 DRAW with the point deduction but could go to Ferreira

Body kick from Petrosyan. Ferreira is pushing forward but swinging wide and Petrosyan is sniping thus far. Lunging left from Ferreira connects. Bit of a right from Petrosyan then he avoids a takedown. Calf kick from Petrosyan. Jab from Petrosyan, the right eye of Ferreira is getting busted up. Ferreira tries a takedown but can’t secure it. Leg kick from Petrosyan. Bit of a right hook from Petrosyan. Ferreira keeps trying to push forward but we get a time out as Petrosyan complains of a low blow. Replay shows the punch was legal so we’re back to fighting right away. Jab from Petrosyan then a body kick which Ferreira returns. Double leg from Ferreira but Petrosyan starts working to wall walk pretty quickly. Ferreira looks for the back as Petrosyan is on his knees, Petrosyan tries to turn into him but Ferreira grabs a slightly ugly armbar but it works enough to get the tap.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Brunno Ferreira via Submission, armbar, at 4:27 of Round 2
Mic time for Ferreira and the translator, he plays a bit with the crowd in English and calls himself blessed. He talks us through the finish and puts over his coaches. To close he hopes for a post fight bonus.

Joshua Van has gone 5-1 in the UFC, only losing to Charles Johnson and he brings a two fight winning streak into this fight. A third win for Van might earn him a shot at some ranked opposition his next time out. Rei Tsuruya is undefeated including a successful UFC debut last year, he’s taking this fight on short notice but a win over a fairly proven up and coming fighter like Van would be a big feather in his cap. The odds like Van at -165 to Tsuruya’s +140.
Flyweight Bout: Rei Tsuruya (10-0, 125.5 lbs.) vs. Joshua Van (12-2, 125.5 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Tsuruya is an inch taller with three inches of reach advantage, this is also the first fight in UFC history with both fighters born in the 2000’s. You know, just so we can all feel old together. They touch gloves, Tsuruya fighting southpaw. Van looks to jab early then fights off a takedown. Van defends a single leg but Tsuruya pushes things into the fence. Van is able to spin free. Front kick from Van. Tsuruya tries another takedown but Van defends and lands an elbow before they clinch up. They break without incident. Bit of a jab from Van. Right hand from Van. Tsuruya is able to hit a modified valley drop or a shoulder throw and gets on top but Van is able to regain his feet rather quickly. Tsuruya avoids a few punches but his offense has been pretty muted. Van lands a right hand. Tsuruya catches a high kick and gets a takedown against the fence, he lands a few punches as Van wall walks then Van lands a left elbow as they break and the round ends.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Van
ROUND TWO: They touch gloves again. Tsuruya tries a single leg but settles for a clinch then tries a lateral drop but Van gets free. Van with some punches as Tsuruya tries another single leg and they wind up on the fence then break. Tsuruya misses a left hand. Bit of a right from Van. Van lands a one two but Tsuruya ties up and hits a really nice drop seo nagi or arm throw to get on top in side control. Really almost a kesa gatami or scarf hold position for Tsuruya here, he lands some punches but Van is able to eventually scramble up into a clinch then they break. Van lands a right hand. Bit of a left from Tsuruya. Front kick from Van then he fights off a single leg. Bit of a right from Van. Tsuruya gets to a clinch and they hit the fence then Van gets free. Van lands a right hand. SCORECARD: 10-9 Van but Tsuruya made this one close, 20-18 Van overall
ROUND THREE: Van fights off a takedown, then blocks another one and lands an elbow. The cardio on these two to be wrestling this much and still moving this smoothly is kind of nuts. Van blocks a takedown and lands some hammer fists but Tsuruya comes up on a clinch. They break without incident. Both men miss power hand punches. Van sprawls away from a double leg attempt. Bit of a left from Van then a right to the body. A front kick from Van goes low and we’ve got a break. Replay show there was some contact to the red zone. Tsuruya takes 1:15 then we’re back to fighting. Van fights off a single leg and lands some punches to the body from his knees. Tsuruya is working to get a takedown against the fence but Van is able to escape. Bit of a left from Tsuruya. Van lands a one two. Right hand from Van. Van lands a front kick, then another one. A lot of pressure from Van, and he lands another right to the body. Front kick from Van, Tsuruya complains of a low blow there, replay shows the kick was legal enough for the ref so we’re back to fighting. Right hand from Van as he’s pushing forward. Tsuruya fires back with a one two. A left hook from Van off balances Tsuruya for a second then he lands a front kick as the round ends.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Van, 30-27 Van overall
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Joshua Van via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
No mic time for Van as we’re over time.
King Green is a real longtime veteran of the sport, the man fought on the Affliction cards for crying out loud, and has gone 3-2 in his last five fights. Green did lose his last time out but now tries to avoid another losing streak. Mauricio Ruffy is on a six fight winning streak including two wins in the UFC and now he looks to add the most notable name he’s faced to his list of victims. Ruffy is a pretty big favorite at -500 to +380 on Green.
Lightweight Bout: King Green (32-16-1 1 NC, 155.5 lbs.) vs. Mauricio Ruffy (11-1, 155.5 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Ruffy is an inch taller with four inches of reach advantage and is a full decade younger. Both men will do a lot of stance switching. Ruffy opens orthodox and backs up Green towards the fence. Green shows a few kicks to try and get distance but Ruffy keeps pretty much in his face. Both men fall short with some punches. Ruffy avoids a few punches. A right hand from Ruffy stuns Green for a second but Green recovers then fires back. A wheel kick from Ruffy ENDS Green, puts him down face first on the mat!
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Mauricio Ruffy via KO, wheel kick, at 2:07 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Ruffy for his work. Mic time for Ruffy and the translator, he plays a little bit with the crowd in English then switches to Portuguese to thank God and all the people who reached out to him after his anti suicide message following his last fight. He talks us through the finish and jokes about getting two bonuses for himself with that kind of finish. Asked about the future he wants to fight Beneil Dariush in a Fight Night main event. Reasonable call out.
Look at how Ruffy shows the left hook, it gets Green to reach to parry but that just opens up the side of his head for the wheel kick.

They announce former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler as the next Hall of Fame inductee. No issues from me there, and you can see Lawler get emotional as they play the package for him.
Amanda Lemos is about to turn 38 years old but her only recent losses have come to Jessica Andrade, losing a title fight with Zhang Weili, and most recently to Virna Jandiroba. If Lemos is to retain her ranking she needs to avoid her first UFC losing streak. Iasmin Lucindo has gone 4-1 in the UFC and is on a four fight winning streak, she’s taking a step up in class here off the back of a split decision win and a win would set her up nicely to make a run towards the title level this year. The odds like the younger Lucindo at -135 to +115 for Lemos.
Strawweight Bout: #5 Amanda Lemos (14-4-1, 116 lbs.) vs. #7 Iasmin Lucindo (17-5, 115.5 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Lemos is an inch taller while Lucindo has an inch of reach advantage and Lucindo is 14 years younger. They touch gloves to get things started. A bit of feinting from both women. Lucindo misses a head kick. Bit of a calf kick from Lemos. Lucindo misses a wheel kick. Bit of a one two from Lemos then they clinch up and Lucindo pushes things into the fence. Outside trip from Lemos and she gets on top in full guard. Lucindo tries to throw up her guard but Lemos stifles that and passes towards half guard then lands an elbow as Lucindo gets full guard back. There’s a cut under the right eye of Lucindo now, not sure exactly what caused it. Not much going on here. Bit of a left hand from Lemos. Elbow from Lemos lands and that’ll close the round.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Lemos, might be 10-8 if you’re generous since I don’t think Lucindo landed a single relevant strike
ROUND TWO: Lucindo shows some more feints as the round begins. Lemos feints her way forward and lands a calf kick. They tie up and again Lucindo pushes things into the fence. Lemos spins Lucindo into the cage and starts working for trips. Short right from Lemos. Elbow from Lemos then she trips Lucindo down and gets on top in half guard. Knee to the body from Lemos then an elbow before Lucindo shrimps to get full guard. Lucindo tries to invert but Lemos stifles her movement and retains top position. Bit of an elbow from Lemos. A few punches land for Lemos to close the round.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Lemos, 20-18 Lemos overall
ROUND THREE: Lucindo comes out swinging punches but Lemos avoids a spinning back fist then lands a couple of punches. They tie up and Lucindo hits an outside trip to get on top in half guard. Lucindo passes towards side control but Lemos blocks it. Now Lucindo passes to side control. Lemos gets towards the fence and walks her feet up it then lands an elbow from her back. Lucindo lands a couple of hammer fists. Lemos walks up the wall with her feet and scrambles up into a clinch then trips Lucindo down to get on top with 90 seconds left. Some body shots from Lemos. A few short elbows from Lemos land to close the round.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Lucindo, 29-28 Lemos overall
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Amanda Lemos via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)
Uneventful fight, and Lemos does not get an interview.
Jalin Turner has gone 1-3 in his last four fights, most recently losing in the second round to Renato Moicano despite nearly finishing Moicano in the first round and that non-stoppage being a mild point of controversy. If Turner wants to make a serious run in the weight class he pretty badly needs to get back on the winning side of things. Ignacio Bahamondes has gone 5-1 in his last six fights and is on a two fight winning streak, a win here could secure him his first UFC ranking. Close one here, -135 on Bahamondes to +115 for Turner.
Lightweight Bout: Ignacio Bahamondes (16-5, 156 lbs.) vs. #13 Jalin Turner (14-8, 154.5 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Both men are 6’3 which is nuts, while Turner has an inch and a half of reach advantage. Southpaw for Turner to start. Bahamondes fires an inside leg kick then a right hand. Knee from Turner, these two aren’t wasting time. Some stance switching from Bahamondes now. They both fire high kicks which don’t quite land. Body kick from Turner. Bahamondes ties up and basically pulls half guard. Turner on top lands a punch to the body as Bahamondes gets full guard. Some elbows to the body from Turner, always love to see those. Turner lands an elbow to the head. Bahamondes tries to angle his hips but Turner smothers the action and they trade elbows on the mat. Triangle attack from Bahamondes, it’s pretty tight and Turner has to tap.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Ignacio Bahamondes via Submission, triangle choke, at 2:29 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Bahamondes for his work. Mic time for Bahamondes, he jokes about being a grappler now then says he knew the submission would be there. He talks us through the finish then says he’s down for whatever next as long as it gets him closer to the belt.

Justin Gaethje is one of the last action heroes in the UFC at the moment, he’s 3-3 in his last six fights with two of those losses coming in title fights and most recently winding up on the wrong end of one of the most iconic knockouts in UFC history against Max Holloway at UFC 300. Gaethje is probably starting to wind down his career in some respects but if he does still have aims at the top of the division he can ill afford a losing streak at this juncture. Rafael Fiziev took this fight on short notice, is on a two fight losing streak with one of those being to Gaethje, and he’s been out of action since September of 2023 when he suffered a knee injury in a fight. Fiziev is trying to remind everyone that he’s still a top flight lightweight. The odds like Fiziev despite the layoff at -160 to +130 for Gaethje.
Lightweight Bout: #11 Rafael Fiziev (12-3, 156 lbs.) vs. #3 Justin Gaethje (25-5, 156 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Gaethje is three inches taller while Fiziev has an inch and a half of reach advantage. They touch gloves to get us going. Fiziev opens orthodox but will switch if he feels like it. Bit of a calf kick from Gaethje. Leg kick from Gaethje but Fiziev pushes him over off of it and gets on top but Gaethje quickly scrambles up but eats a knee on the way. Calf kick from Gaethje then he rolls through a Fiziev takedown attempt but Fiziev grabs at an inverted triangle choke and sits on top of Gaethje with it. Some body blows from Fiziev but Gaethje scrambles up and they separate. Bit of a left from Fiziev, he’s mostly southpaw now. Glancing uppercut from Gaethje. Gaethje lands a right hand. They tie up and Gaethje cranks a bit of a Mir lock before they trade some knees then separate. Body kick from Fiziev. Another Fiziev body kick. They tie up again then Gaethje pushes things to the fence. Bit of a right from Gaethje as they break. Right hand from Gaethje, that got Fiziev’s attention. Fiziev is moving a little gingerly, looks like something on one of those body kicks might have bothered him. Leg kick from Gaethje, that’ll close the round.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Fiziev
ROUND TWO: They touch gloves again. Gaethje looks to pressure forward, he’s playing with a few stance switches now as well. Bit of a left hook from Gaethje. A body kick from Fiziev goes low so we’ve got a time out. Gaethje only takes 20 seconds then we’re back to fighting. Calf kick from Gaethje. Right hook from Gaethje in close. Jab from Gaethje then Fiziev lands a right to the body. Another right hand from Gaethje then he jabs the body. Chopping right from Gaethje then they trade in close. Left to the body from Fiziev. Gaethje keeps pressuring forward and lands a right hand then a bit of a left hook. Fiziev misses a head kick but lands a right hand then Gaethje counters with a right of his own. Well that was a gem of a little fight, especially given how it came together. Mic time for Gaethje after he and Fiziev put each other over. He puts over Fiziev again as a world class guy who changed a lot from their first fight and to do that on 12 days notice is impressive. He’s pretty sure his hand is broken but he’s happy to have represented the USA here and feels it’s a dream come true. Asked about coming back after the Holloway loss he says he had to, it doesn’t matter how far down you are you have to get back on the horse, which is something his parents drilled into him. Asked about the future he isn’t sure but he’s the most exciting guy that’s been in here and says it’s up to the UFC.
Magomed Ankalaev was thought to be the next big thing at light heavyweight at one point before a few lackluster fights and a draw against Jan Blachowicz for the vacant title somewhat derailed his trajectory. Ankalaev hasn’t lost since his UFC debut though and he’s looking to make good in his second title fight and claim the belt. Alex Pereira is undefeated at light heavyweight, is the reigning light heavyweight champion, and has three successful title defenses to his name. Pereira is pretty much the top dog in the UFC’s promotional machine at this point and another win here would further his legacy and could open up some interesting options up at heavyweight should he desire to make that jump. Very close fight here, -120 on Pereira to +100 on Ankalaev.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Magomed Ankalaev via unanimous decision (49-46, 48-47 x2)
I don’t really object to Ankalaev winning the third even if I don’t really agree. Mic time for Ankalaev and the translator, the crowd isn’t even booing they’re so disinterested, he can’t put into words how good this feels. He wasn’t surprised in the fight and is happy to have won then puts over his team and home region. Rogan is desperately trying to get this guy to say something interesting and asks about pushing Pereira back for much of the fight and he says pressure was important and trying to counter Pereira doesn’t work. Once again, not even boos as the interview ends.
Pereira gets an interview with a translator, he knew the fight would be tough as most of his fights are. He feels the clinch was just time wasting from Ankalaev. He expected the clinch and knows that style is boring and everyone’s going to try and replicate that. Asked about his rather busy schedule and the future he says he’s going to keep training and doesn’t think anything is hurt after the fight.
