The Young Bucks have a match with Adam Copeland and Christian Cage on their bucket list of potential matches in AEW. Nicholas and Matthew Jackson have been back in action for several months now, having returned at AEW Dynasty. The Young Bucks will be facing Jurassic Express at AEW WrestleDream, but they noted in an interview with Jon Alba on SI’s The Takedown that a match with Copeland and Cage is high on their wanted list.
Copeland is currently on hiatus as he films the new season of Percy Jackson for Disney+. You can see highlights from the discussion below:
On the potential of a match with Copeland and Cage:
Nick: “I think it’d be insane. It’s crazy to even think that that match is a possibility. Because if you told me this in 2019 when we helped create AEW, I’d be like, ‘No
chance in hell,’ right? So if if we do get a chance to do it, I feel like it could be a very special tag match.”
Matt: “I told someone this. I said that that might be our last big money match dream match that is left. I think we’ve done them all. That might be it. And I hope that we can do it, and it would be silly not to do it while we’re all still here at AEW. So yeah, that’s definitely on the bucket list, and I pray we get to do it.”
On the influence that Edge & Christian had on them:
Matt: That whole era, that early 2000 — like, that era is just–“
Nick: “Yeah, even the Dudley. Like, breaking through tables looked so fun to me.”
Matt: “We didn’t realize how painful it was.”
Nick: “Yeah, no kidding. But yeah, like that whole era was kind of what inspired us to do a lot of it to be honest.”
Matt: “Edge, for sure. I remember like — I think what happened was like personal experience kind of reflects how you view someone. I remember back when I was an extra — God, who knows what year it was? I couldn’t even tell you. But I remember him being so kind to me. And I remember like I left that day and I go, “God, I really like that guy even more now,’ You know what I mean? And I looked up to him.
“So I always thought thought of him as a role model in the business. And Christian’s always been so sweet to us too. So that also helps too. But you know, talk about a tag team that’s done it all. So again, if we can do that two-on-two one day, I’d be pretty psyched.”
