Columbus Sports Arena & OSU Respond to Lawsuit Over Alleged Injuries At WWE Show

The Columbus Sports Arena and Ohio State University have issued a response to the lawsuit filed against them and WWE over injuries allegedly sustained at a 2024 Raw taping. As you may recall, William Ricks filed suit against WWE, the venue, OSU and more last month. Ricks alleged that he slipped in a puddle and fell at the April 22, 2024 episode of Raw.

PWInsider reports that Columbus Arena Sports and Entertainment and The Ohio State University filed a response on October 27th. Their response alleged that the suit should be dismissed due to lack of jurisdiction. The motion notes that OSA would be considered an “arm of the state” and has immunity which they have not waived. WWE has not responded to the lawsuit as of yet.

Ricks’ lawsuit says that WWE, the Columbus Sports Arena and Ohio State University “owed the ticket-purchasing audience, of which Plaintiff was a member, a duty to maintain the Premises in a way that was free of any hazardous conditions. It notes that Ricks “may have had medical assistance with or received payments from Defendant UMR for care and treatment rendered due to injuries sustained in the aforementioned accident.”

The lawsuit was filed before The United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Eastern Division.
