Update On Powerhouse Hobbs Potentially Signing With WWE

Powerhouse Hobbs has been tipped to go to WWE now that he’s left AEW, and a new report has an update on the situation. As previously noted, Hobbs is expected to head to WWE after his AEW contract expired last week. Hobbs finished up with AEW at the post-Dynamite Collision taping, with The Opps losing the AEW World Trios Championships on Saturday’s show.
Fightful Select reports that according to sources that spoke with Sean Ross Sapp, people in WWE are operating under the notion that Hobbs has signed with the company.
To be clear, there is no complete confirmation that Hobbs has put pen to paper. WWE has been interested in Hobbs for years and he negotiated with AEW, but had been looking to move.
The report also cites sources as saying they expected Hobbs to be at Royal Rumble weekend. However, that again is not confirmed.
The WWE Royal Rumble takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31st. It will air live on the ESPN App domestically and Netflix internationally. The current card for the PPV is:
* Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Damian Priest, OR Sami Zayn.
* Career Threatening Match: Gunther vs. AJ Styles.
If Styles loses, he must retire.
* Men’s Royal Rumble Match: Cody Rhodes, Gunther, Jey Uso, Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Penta, 24 More TBA.
* Women’s Royal Rumble Match: Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Asuka, 22 More TBA.
