David Finlay is currently a free agent, and a new report has a bit of an update on a potential move to WWE. As previously reported, Finlay is now a free agent after his NJPW contract expired earlier this month. The former Bullet Club leader had a farewell at with NJPW New Beginning In Osaka on February 10th following his loss to Callum Newman.

It has been reported previously that there was interest in Finlay from WWE. Fightful Selectreports in this week’s “Debunkathon” that there has been contact between Finlay and WWE, per sources. However, those same sources indicated that Finlay is not currently factored into any creative plans.

It’s not known exactly when the contact between WWE and Finlay took place. Finlay has no shortage of options as NJPW is activ ely attempting to re-sign him, while there has been speculation (again, unconfirmed) that he may end up at AEW where a number of his former Bullet Club allies are such as Clark Connors.

Finlay has been with NJPW since 2015 and is a multi-time champion there, including being a two-time IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion. He previously wrestled on AEW Dynamite in 2022 as part of the AEW and NJPW partnership, losing a bout to Hangman Page.
