Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is finally delivering an animated adaptation of the iconic epic storyline, Batman: Knightfall, with a three-part movie trilogy. The first trailer for the new feature (part 1) is now online, along with details of the official voice cast.
Part One of the trilogy premiered this week at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with the official release planned for later this year. The animated movie three-parter adapts the famous storyline from the comics, where the new villain, Bane, arrives in Gotham City, freeing Batman’s most dangerous enemies from Arkham Asylum.
Bane’s actions strategically weaken Batman, pushing the Caped Crusader to his mental and physical breaking point. With Bruce Wayne out of commission, he grants the vigilante, Jean-Paul Valley, the mantle of Batman and access to the Batcave to take over in his absence.
The trilogy is based on the iconic DC Comic Book Event, Batman: Knightfall, by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter David, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balent, which debuted in April 1993.
The storyline had essentially three chapters: “Knightfall,” “Knightquest,” and “Knightsend.” It appears the movie trilogy will follow the same format as the comic version, with one part representing the aforementioned chapters.
Batman: Knightfall Features an A-List Voice Cast
The new feature stars Anson Mount (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness) as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Michael Mando (Spider-Man: Brand New Day) as Bane, and Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael.
It’s directed by Jeff Wamester and written by Jeremy Adams. Rick Morales is the supervising producer alongside producers Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau. Sam Register and Michael Uslan are executive producing the project.
Batman: Knightfall Part 1, along with Parts 2 and 3, does not yet have an official release date. The trailer only says that Part 1, “Knightfall,” is “coming soon.”
