The Death’s Door cage match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door was a wild affair, and a new report notes the possibility of its return next year. The new circular cage made its debut at last night’s PPV in a 12-man tag team match with Team MJF taking on Team Briscoe.’
The match was given its name of Death’s Door at the PPV, and it was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match could become a “staple” of the Forbidden Door PPV.
The wild match went just over 30 minutes and featured a number of weapons from tables and thumbtacks to an exploding trap set by Darby Allin. The finish of the match saw Andrade El Idolo turn on MJF and the Don Callis Family out of frustration, which allowed Mark Briscoe to get the pinfall victory.
As a result of the win, Briscoe will receive a shot at MJF’s AEW World Championship. Briscoe announced backstage after the match that he is taking his title show on this week’s AEW Dynamite on Wednesday night. AEW officially confirmed the match for the show later.
