Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov Go Hard on Each Other in Twitter War, UFC Steps In
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov went after each other in a series of tweets that turned ugly, forcing the UFC to step in. Yahoo! Sports reports that McGregor unleashed on Nurmagomedov with a series of tweets that included him sharing a picture of Nurmagomedov and his wife captioning it “your wife is a towel, mate” in reference to the fact that she was wearing a hijab as a practicing Muslim. McGregor also shared pictures of Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s brother, who McGregor fought in the post-UFC 229 brawl, saying, “I smacked your brother around and took a s**t in his hat.”
McGregor has since deleted both of those tweets, but continued on, taking shots at Nurmagomedov and his teammate Ruslan Magomedov, who received a lifetime ban from USADA this week for multiple violations of the UFC’s anti-doping policy:

Wow another dagestani caught abusing steroids.
That’s 2 out of 3 in this picture busted for steroid abuse, with the most recent being busted 3 times in a row and now hit with a lifetime ban.
Excellent job @JeffNovitzkyUFC.

In response, Nurmagomedov posted to Twitter and referenced the sexual assault allegations against McGregor that are currently being investigated:
Rapist, you are Rapist.
You are a hypocrite who is not responsible for your actions. Justice will find you.

In response to the growing situation, UFC boss Dana White told the outlet that the company was stepping in, saying, “I am aware of the recent social media exchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is unacceptable. As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally.”
The situation seems to have been resolved, with McGregor posting:
I want to move forward, with my fans of all faiths and all backgrounds.
All faiths challenge us to be our best selves.
It is one world and one for all ❤️
Now see you in the Octagon.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 4, 2019
