Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs. Pyfer, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. Overall we’ve got a pretty solid Fight Night card this week, unlike next week. The main event is a relevant one as former two time middleweight champion Israel Adesanya tries to end a losing streak against Joe Pyfer. Pyfer is a bit of a rising talent but we’ll find out a lot about his development against someone like Adesanya. Maycee Barber and Alexa Grasso jockey for title position, Michael Chiesa and Niko Price fight each other in a mutual retirement fight as well. Terrance McKinney is always watchable as well. On the prelims Ignacio Bahamondes vs. Tofiq Musyaev stands out, as does Ricky Simon vs. Adrian Yanez. All in all I have moderate expectations for this one so let’s hope the action delivers.
UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs. Pyfer comes to the world from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, USA. We’ve got Brendan Fitzgerald on commentary along with Daniel Cormier and Dominick Cruz while Bruce Buffer handles announcing with Heidi Androl as our roving reporter. We’ll be in the larger 30 foot cage and I believe the new rules are in effect here but will update if necessary.
Alexia Thainara is on an 11 fight winning streak including two UFC wins, she’s looking to avenge her only professional loss here and firmly establish herself as a prospect in the division. Bruna Brasil has traded wins and losses while going 3-4 in the UFC, she’s hoping that pattern holds as she’s coming off of a loss and now tries to avoid her first losing streak. Thainara is among the biggest favorites tonight at a big -700 to a +525 comeback on Brasil.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Yousri Belgaroui via KO, knee, at 3:39 of Round 3
The Final Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Belgaroui for his work. Heck of a fight from Belgaroui who gets an interview, he feels he had everything covered by Abdul-Malik still hit really hard and he had to work hard for this win. He talks us through the finish and notes he visualized getting the knockout all the time but wasn’t sure in practice he could do it. Asked about the future he wants to fight as soon as possible and jokes about the challenge being sparring Alex Pereira at heavyweight. Pereira is in his corner and gets a big pop when shown.

We get our next Hall of Fame inductee announcement, former flyweight champion and greatest of all time contender Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. I’m a little surprised by this, not because DJ doesn’t deserve it but because he’s never quite been on the best relational terms with the UFC brass. That said he unequivocally deserves the honor, the man had a truly tremendous career. DJ and family are in attendance so we can see his reaction.
Julian Erosa just had a three fight winning streak broken by the surging Melquizael Costa, now he’s trying to avoid another losing streak. Lerryan Douglas brings a five fight winning streak into his UFC debut, and a win over a veteran like Erosa would be the ideal way to get his UFC career up and running. The odds like Douglas at a surprisingly heavy -350 to Erosa’s +275 comeback.
Featherweight Bout: Lerryan Douglas (13-5, 146 lbs.) vs. Julian Erosa (31-12, 145 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Erosa is four inches taller with two inches of reach advantage. They touch gloves to get going. Erosa will do stance switching as he circles. Bit of a calf kick from Douglas. Both men work some calf kicks. Bit of a jab from Douglas then a calf kick. Another calf kick from Douglas. Erosa didn’t like that and lands an uppercut then tries a clinch but Douglas circles free. They trade rights in close. Inside calf kick from Douglas as Erosa is doing a lot of southpaw now. Douglas with a right hand then a calf kick. Left hook from Douglas. They trade punches in close but Douglas just has more firepower at the moment. Calf kick from Douglas then an uppercut in close. Erosa with a right hand, they get close and trade punches. Douglas with uppercuts then he misses a left hook. Stiff jab from Douglas, then a power jab off balances Erosa. Another jab wobbles Erosa, Douglas is breaking him down badly with just jabs now. Erosa avoids a few hooks but he’s in trouble. They get close and Douglas clubs Erosa down then unloads to get the stoppage.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Lerryan Douglas via KO, punches, at 3:33 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Douglas for his work. Mic time for Douglas, who has a pretty sweet Doc Holliday hat, and he says he’s worked his whole life to show the world what he can do like this. He can’t wait to enjoy some Seattle seafood now that he’s won. He talks us through the finish and notes all the great boxers he trains with and says the whole weight class better worry about the gunslinger. Asked about the future he puts over the matchmakers and says he’s ready for anything. To close he asks for a friend of him to be signed to the promotion.
THE GUNSLINGER
Lerryan Douglas takes out Julian Erosa in the 1st round!

Michael Chiesa has been with the UFC since 2012, he’s already announced that he’s retiring after this fight and if he can extend his winning streak to four as well as get a win in his home state of Washington that’s about the best way a career can wrap up. Niko Price took this fight on somewhat short notice but he’s also going to have up the gloves after this fight, he’s looking to spoil Chiesa’s retirement as well as break three fight losing streak so he can go out on a win. Chiesa is the biggest favorite on the card at -900 to +600 for Price.
Welterweight Bout: Michael Chiesa (19-7, 170 lbs.) vs. Niko Price (16-10 2 NC, 170 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Chiesa is an inch taller while Price has half an inch of reach advantage. They touch gloves to get going. Southpaw for Chiesa. Price pressures forward right away and misses a couple of rights. They tie up, Chiesa tries a harai goshi but winds up trying a Polish throw only to run into the fence. Both men wrestle up and Chiesa hits a mat return then gets the back with both hooks in. Price tries to front flip free but can’t break the position and Chiesa grabs the choke to get the tap and end his career without ever getting a finish via strikes.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Michael Chiesa via Submission, rear naked choke, at 1:03 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Chiesa for his work. Mic time for Chiesa as Price has laid down his gloves, Chiesa says everything about this is magical. He worked hard, dreamed big, and never gave up on himself then sends love to the fans. He talks us through the finish then when asked about his legacy he thanks his mom, wife, and his dad who’s passed on. Chiesa gets a video package too.

Alexa Grasso is a former flyweight champion, she scored a major upset of Valentina Shevchenko to win the belt but then got gifted a draw in their rematch before decisively losing the trilogy bout. Grasso hasn’t had a win since 2023 and most recently lost to Natalia Silva, she really needs to get back on the winning side of things here if she ever wants to get back into the title picture. Maycee Barber is on a seven fight winning streak, though a couple of those were decisions she probably should have lost, and if she can best a former champion like Grasso it should put her in good position to challenge for the title in the immediate future. Barber closed as the -190 favorite to Grasso’s +160 comeback.
Women’s Flyweight Bout: #5 Maycee Barber (15-2, 125 lbs.) vs. #3 Alexa Grasso (16-5-1, 126 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: These two are the same height while Grasso has an inch of reach advantage. Southpaw for Barber. Both women with some range finding punches, nothing landing yet. Bit of a leg kick from Grasso. Grasso lands a right hand in close. Barber keeps looking to move forward and they trade a few punches. Grasso lands another leg kick. They both miss some kicks now. Left hook then a right hand from Grasso. Barber looks to push forward but she eats a right hand. Bit of a one two from Grasso as she’s southpaw, she then FLOORS Barber and then on the mat immediately locks in a choke that probably wasn’t necessary as the ref just stops things while Barber is sleeping with her eyes open.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Alexa Grasso via KO, punch, at 2:42 of Round 1
The First Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Grasso for her work. Mic time for Grasso, she plays with the crowd a bit and says when she can fight without injuries she’s a very dangerous fighter. She talks us through the finish then when asked about the future she really wants to fight in Guadalajara.

Israel Adesanya is a former two time middleweight champion and one of the best champions that weight class has ever seen, he’s just 1-4 in his last five fights though and his last win was regaining the middleweight title from Alex Pereira in 2023. Adesanya is unlikely to get back into the title picture but he needs to halt his three fight losing streak here if he wants to retain a high profile in the division. Joe Pyfer is on a three fight winning streak but this represents a big step up in class for him, that said it would also be the biggest win of his career if he can take out a former champion and all time great like Adesanya here. Close main event here, -140 on Adesanya to +120 for Pyfer.
Middleweight Bout: #4 Israel Adesanya (24-5, 186 lbs.) vs. #14 Joe Pyfer (15-3, 186 lbs.)
ROUND ONE: Adesanya is two inches taller with five inches of reach advantage, he’s also 7 years older. Circling from Adesanya to start, he’s opened orthodox but will switch if he feels like it. Calf kick from Adesanya. Some feints from Adesanya, Pyfer reaches for a takedown and gets a clinch to the fence. Pyfer has a body lock and looks for trips but Adesanya is defending. Adesanya spins free after a bit. Bit of a left high kick from Adesanya. Pyfer misses a right hand but that was close, his hands look fast when he throws them. Adesanya lands an inside leg kick then a left hand and a stepping knee up top. Bit of a calf kick from Adesanya. Both men land lefts. Jab from Adesanya then Pyfer misses an elbow in close. Another clinch and Pyfer with a glancing right hand on the break. Adesanya with another calf kick then a jab. Pyfer tries a takedown, Adesanya defends and they hit the fence in the clinch. Again Adesanya slips free then lands an inside leg kick. Short left from Pyfer. A couple of body shots from Pyfer then Adesanya lands a hard calf kick. Calf kick from Pyfer now. Bit of a right from Adesanya then another calf kick. Pyfer misses a couple of punches. Left hand from Adesanya then a body kick. Calf kick from Adesanya. Pyfer gets a clinch and hits a knee tap into full guard. Not much will happen as we’re at 10 seconds left so the round ends there.
SCORECARD: 10-9 Adesanya
ROUND TWO: Adesanya comes out jabbing again and looking to back Pyfer up. Body kick from Adesanya. One two from Adesanya and he avoids a wild counter right. Calf kick from Adesanya, that hurt and Pyfer complains of an eye poke so we’ve got a time out. Replay shows there was some contact but Pyfer only needs 27 seconds to recover. Some body jabs from Adesanya. Pyfer misses a right hand but gets a clinch on the fence. Adesanya is able to spin free. Right hand from Pyfer in close then Adesanya cracks him with a counter. One two from Adesanya hurts Pyfer, he’s backing up. Left to the body from Adesanya then Pyfer avoids a knee. Pyfer tries a takedown and lands a knee then a left hook. Adesanya with a couple punches in close. Right from Pyfer and they trade in close. Combination from Adesanya then a high kick that’s partially blocked. Left hook from Pyfer, Adesanya returns fire and Pyfer looks to unload but Adesanya was playing possum. They tie up and Pyfer gets a takedown into half guard. Pyfer moves to full mount then Adesanya gives up this back. Body triangle for Pyfer and he starts looking for a choke. Pyfer switches to full mount, he almost lost position there. Short elbow from Pyfer and Adesanya gives up the back again. Pyfer with punches, Adesanya can’t address the position and the ref steps in as Pyfer keeps swinging punches.
OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Joe Pyfer via TKO, punches, at 4:18 of Round 2
Mic time for Pyfer after that win, he says this is surreal and mentions being suicidal a few weeks ago but was saved by God. He talks us through the finish and knew he had the power edge and once he could bring that to bear it went his way. He puts over Adesanya and then puts over God again and says he should get a bonus.
Cormier talks with Adesanya as well, he says he wasn’t surprised and expected the best of Pyfer which he got. He wanted to feel like he’d been in a fight and got that, then puts over Pyfer for the win. Asked about the future he says you just keep going and that he’s not leaving.
JOE PYFER STOPS ISRAEL ADESANYA IN THE 2ND ROUND!!!

Well on that note UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs. Pyfer comes to a close. All in all a pretty good night of fights. We’ll be unpacking all the fallout from the event on the 411 Ground and Pound MMA Podcast over on the 411 youtube channel. In addition we’ll be looking ahead to next week which has one of the worst cards, on paper, that the UFC has put together in a long time. Seriously, it’s bad. But I’ll be back here covering it so you don’t have to watch. Until next time everyone stay safe out there and keep checking 411mania for all of your pop culture needs.
