Aaron Pierre Joins Cast of Superman Sequel Man of Tomorrow as Green Lantern John Stewart

The cast is growing for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lanterns star Aaron Pierre will take flight in the upcoming DC Universe movie, reprising his role as John Stewart, aka Green Lantern, in the feature.

Pierre will be making his debut as the character in the HBO DC series, Lanterns, which will hit later this year. Gunn is back to write and direct the sequel, which begins principal photography later this summer in Atlanta, Georgia.

Pierre joins the cast opposite the returning David Corensweet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. As noted, Lars Eidinger has signed on to portray the villainous android, Braniac, whom Superman and Luthor will have to put aside their differences to face together.

Other returning cast members include Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Maria Gabriella de Faria as The Engineer.

This will mark the first theatrical appearance of Green Lantern John Stewart. The character was created by Dennis O’Neal and Neal Adams in the early 1970s, first appearing in the pages of Green Lantern #87.

Pierre’s Stewart teams up with the veteran Green Lantern Corps. member, Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), in the Lanterns show. Together, they investigate a dark and foreboding mystery in the American heartland. Lanterns debuts on HBO later this August.

Man of Tomorrow, featuring Aaron Pierre as Green Lantern John Stewart, flies into theaters on July 9, 2027.
