Patty Jenkins to Helm Star Wars Movie Rogue Squadron
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is diving into the Star Wars universe, directing a Rogue Squadron film. During today’s Disney Investor Day, it was announced that Jenkins will direct the film for Disney and Lucasfilm.
Rogue Squadron will be the nest Star Wars film to be released, and will center on the titular fighter pilots. Plot details beyond that are not known, and it is not yet clear if it will have any direct relation to the Rogue Squadron video game series. It is set for release on Christmas Day 2023.
Jenkins broke out with her 2003 film Monster, and then became a household name with Wonder Woman which turned momentum for the DC film universe around thanks to glowing reviews and positive fan reception. She also directed the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, which hits theaters and HBO Max this month.
