Bodyslam.net’s Mark O’Brien reports that AEW created two different tag team titles within the past year but both are said to be ‘sitting on the shelf’.

Sources within the company claim that AEW created ‘Inter-Generational Tag Team Championships’ which would be for ‘father & son’ pairs. That’s reportedly what led to more on-screen focus on Christian Cage and Nick Wayne, and why Billy Gunn was given more focus with the Acclaimed and Anthony Bowens. There were also plans for real father and son teams, such as Ricky and Kerry Morton and Kerry Von Erich teaming with one of his sons. There was even a Jurassic Express reunion suggested, although it’s unclear how that relates to it.

As for Cage and Wayne, the original plans for the pair had them teaming against the Hurt Syndicate, only for one to turn on the other during a title match. It was said to be part of a “wider plan.”

Meanwhile, the company also created Women’s Tag Team titles. Both sets of belts have been around for a year but unused.
