Fightful Select has more details on the botched finish to the WWE Women’s Title Triple Threat Match on last week’s SmackDown featuring Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax. As noted, Stratton won an improvised finish after Jade Cargill suffered a nasty cut during the match.
The closing sequence of the match had Tiffany Stratton covering Nia Jax, but referee Daphanie LaShaunn counted two instead of three, even though Nia Jax didn’t kick out. It’s unknown why the LaShaunn didn’t count the three since Stratton was planned to win. Fightful reports that multiple things were claimed internally on what went wrong.
Additionally, Jade Cargill reportedly handled the injury well internally, and her cut was quickly taken care of backstage. Fightful also notes that fans shouldn’t be surprised if Cargill isn’t wrestling this week, but she is said to be physically okay besides the cut. Cargill is also said to be in good spirits after the injury.
