Backstage Update On WWE Hall of Fame Legacy Wing

WWE has announced two members of the Legacy wing in the WWE Hall of Fame for 2026, and a new report has notes on how the wing has changed. WWE announced Sid Vicious and Bad News Brown over the past week as Legacy Award members of the 2026 Hall of Fame class. This marks the first time that WWE has publicized the Legacy inductees individually.
The Legacy inductees have previously been inducted as groups starting in 2016, when Art Thomas, Ed Lewis, Frank Gotch, George Hackenschmidt, Lou Thesz, Mildred Burke, and Pat O’Connor were inducted. From that point until 2021, the nominees were announced as groups and inducted as such with an announcement. There were no Legacy inductees in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Last year’s show saw the return of the category with Dory Funk Sr., Kamala, and Ivan Koloff inducted, which were announced just over a week before the induction ceremony.
As the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes, WWE has changed up the policy. The Legacy inductees are now being done as a way to honor those potential inductees who have passed away, and in order to save time for the ceremony, which has been criticized in recent years for going on too long and for some inductions being rushed.
It is not yet clear if the Legacy inductees will have any sort of speech given by family members, as has often been done for larger stars who have passed. Thus far, the 2026 class consists of Vicious and Brown as Legacy inductees; Dennis Rodman as a Celebrity wing inductee; Demolition as a group; and AJ Styles & Stephanie McMahon as individual inductees. WWE has not yet announced an Immortal Moment for this year. That category made its debut last year with Bret Hart and Steve Austin’s WrestleMania 13 match.
